I've used several different detectors over the last three years but none of them can compare to the Safari for depth. By no means am I an expert. (I get all my advice from guys like Digger, Cactus Bill, Kentucky Hunter, Brian, and Moose). It's easy to use but there are a few things I'm still working on. One is pin pointing and the other is manual discrimination. As far as the batteries go I've heard a lot of pro and con. I've been using the same batteries for about a week. The detector seems to be running the best when its on the lowest and middle mark on the battery indicator. Considering I didn't know the detector well, I think I had a pretty good week. I found about 50 clad coins, several pennies (two wheaties - a 50 & a 44), a 1963 rosey dime and a ladies gold watch (necklace). The dime was 9" down and the watch was 11". The watch is the diameter of a quarter but much thicker. All the other coins were 7 inches or less.
I would appreciate any help on pin pointing and manual discrimination.
