So I thought I would do a brief wrap up of my first year with the E-trac.
I got my E-trac the middle of March last year after a lot of thought as what to get. I'm sure everyone is a bit unsure after throwing do 1500 big ones(This is my first detector). I would guess it took me about 30 hours to get the "swing of things" and I would have to guess i have about 100+ hrs on this machine. I started the the year hunting in Montana and didn't have a whole lot of good places to hunt but did manage to find a couple of silver rings. This is why also I think it took me so long to learn the E-trac. Well about 6 months ago I moved back to central Va and hit it running. I would say it took me about 3 days to find my first CW bullet and today after almost one year exactly I dug my first plate.
Over all I would have to say this machine is great. I'm young so I don't mind the weight. And maybe ignorance is bliss I've never swung anything else so how would I know whats bad?. I have dug targets literally right be hind a couple of friends their machinates didn't get a signal on. My only down side is I am not very good at pin pointing but so far I haven't hit the targets that count. I think this is just something I need to work on I guess the target was the 100+ years it can wait for a bigger hole.
All of the items in the photos have been dug over the last year except the bullets in the center of the large display(my aunt gave me them as a gift from when her and her husband used to dig)
The plate aint much to look at but its my first. Its a 1830-1850 Va Militia Shoulder Plate. I found it today at a very old home site and I'm stoked. They where used during the Civil War but I don't think this one ever made it to action. As I haven't found any thing war related around the site.
