Fisher F75-DST - Six Pieces Of Silver And A Tad Of Gold :fisher: :detecting:

This is my first real hunt with the F75SE with the new DST upgrade. I kept the Sharpshooter coil on for the entire hunt. I mainly used the boost mode, sensitivity 80-99, 4 tones and no discrimination. It was mostly quiet running. I went to the older section of town looking for some silver coins. I found a place to detect that looked real promising. I started finding coins as fast as I could swing the search coil. Problem was I was finding nothing but clad coins, not even a wheat penny and my back and legs had all that they wanted, so it was time to move to another location. Right off at the new location I found a 1971 Half Dollar followed by some wheat pennies. That got me fired up! I knew that I was on the right track. My first silver find was a 1959 Rosie, followed by more wheat pennies. My next silver find was a 1958 Rosie followed by more wheat pennies. My next silver find was a Sterling Ring followed by more wheat pennies. My next silver find was a 1936 Washington Quarter followed by more wheat pennies. My next silver find was a 1945 War Nickel. I was crisscrossing the area the area again when I got a hit over a hole that I already dug that sounded off over a hole that I already dug. It didn't sound good at all, but since the signal was coming from a hole that I already dug earlier, I had to investigate. I was getting tired, but finding wheat pennies keep me going. My next find was a Gold Wedding Band, I was filled with excitement and joy until I clean it enough to find out it was GF. On well I felt good there for awhile. My next find was a 1952 Washington Quarter. That put some joy back into me. I ended up finding 17 Wheat Pennies. Some were really old (1910), so I know that there has to be some old silver coins there as well. I also found some other neat stuff. I wonder how that NYC Transit Authority Token got lost in Memphis. Around noon I called it a day and headed for home. I was dugout tired and had all the fun I could stand for one day.

Great hunt Gerald! It's good to see you haven't lost your touch. Not one bit LOL! Are you finding EMI much more manageable with the DST technology? 6-silver days are really exciting!

Thanks! If I was younger like you I could have stayed with it longer and made it a 10 silver day.:) Me laying off for the last month or so has gotten me out of condition.

Taylor the F75 is running so quiet that the only time that you hear it is when you put the search over a target. You've seen me put my F75SE back in the car before I had it upgraded and grab another detector, because of EMI issues. So far so good. I have one place in mind that I want to take it back to and see how well it can handle the EMI after the upgrade. All the detectors that I have tried to use at that location, including the F75SE, went loco and were unusable, except for my Vaquero and Cibola.

Wow, great day! I am just getting the hang of this F75 also and it is proving to be pretty sensitive.

Thanks everyone.:)

As I gain more experience detecting I conclude that searching in a good location is just as important as the detector that you're swinging and how well you can use it. I'm constantly keeping my eyes peeled for new sites to detect. Most outdoor activities of people years ago are a lot different than they are today. I try to visualize the people and activities going on at a particular site a hundred years ago. Which routes did they take, what were they doing and where did they sat? Spending time doing research is also helpful.

Your 100% correct about looking for the right location to hunt, me and my two brothers found this area that use to be a picnic area from around 1925 till 1965 in our local area. We now nick named it the silver den, last fall we pulled 4 silver 1/2 dollars, 4 silver quarters, and about 15 silver dimes. Its hard hunting now because its all wooded area but no one else has ever hunted it. Best spot we've ever hunted, hope we can get more silver out this spring. 6 silvers in one day is fantastic, super day!

Thanks. Yeah, things change. Areas that used to be wooded in the past can be open grassy open areas today and areas that used to be open grassy areas can now be thickly wooded. Old picnic areas and other gathering places that stopped being used before aluminum foil, pull tabs, can slaw, zinc pennies and screw caps are great detecting locations, especially for gold rings.:detecting:Those places do exist, you just have to do some research. It sounds like you and your bothers found such a place!

Thanks. Some of that green stuff is weeds. In places it's getting a little too thick to swing a search coil. They'll start their grass cutting soon. One good thing about the F75 in the boost mode, the coil doesn't have to be all that close to the ground to hit fairly deep coin sized targets.
