Five cents the hard way

They finally cut the beans on one of my favorite haunts {ghost town} and I got a break to go out swinging. Led off with the three-cent nickel, not my first but definitely the most detail with most of a date. A couple Indians made it five cents for the day. The officers coat button was the last keeper with some guild left despite the field damage.
1865 Henry .44 rimfire rifle case 12 tid
3 cent nickel or what's left of it 3 tid
Officers coat button circa civil war 24 tid
cuff link? 17 tid

If one is going to dig then dig eccentric I say!!! Cool revoveries

Being 75% copper and 25% nickel I’m surprised to learn the 3 cent nickel TID is 3.
Thanks for the heads up !!
You had a great hunt!

It's site specific Mike I wouldn't dig it if I were in park, but I rarely hunt parks. The other thing to remember is I am on a quest to find an American gold coin. I have 4 Celtic gold but no American after 51 years of hunting.
I always have gold in the back of my mind in the ghost towns but rarely remember the $1.00 which will ring low. I know the higher denominations can ring low, even into the iron range at higher depths. Your post is a great reminder and wake up call for me to tune down the silver/token brain in the ghosts. The old timers didn't have a lot of Wrigley's Gum and you don't see much foil in the old sites. Maybe, just maybe targets in that range are bucket listers?

I'm rooting for you on your quest, hope to see you posting that gold coin soon!

Lol talk about razor thin found this mercury on the surface at the beach this week after a storm it rang up 8-10 on nox even though I saw it before the nox found it…it’s about worn down to the size of a 3 cent nickel…lol
