If your running in the coin mode accept notch #3. This will give you a better beep on iffy nickels. Plus give you maybe (not scientific) a 25% more chance at a gold ring. In trashy sites or when I don't have much time I run my custom mode. That is simply the coin mode plus #3 notch or what I call high foil. Dig all those medium tones and see what you get. I know I get more nickels.

...but what about just hunting in Jewelry?

I usually do hunt in relic or jewelry. But sometimes I'm lazy and strapped for time. But it was mostly a newbie tip. I know most new hunters set the machine in the coin mode. Heck even I do it. But I always dig that high foil notch. These are times when my pocket runith over with tabs! Hey I know you'll be first in line for my new Ace 250 accessory.

Top secret. Makes the Aces a breeze to use. This one I'm going to try and market. Who knows I may loose my ASH? I can tell you that it's not a stand either. Takes just 30 seconds to install. No, it's not a coil brace either.

I very rarely dig a tab as there is a slight difference in sound between a tab and a nickel. John can hear the difference also.

That's something that I can't do on the non modulated beep of the 250. Are you sure there's not a Bat in your family tree?
I do get some more info in the pinpoint mode. But it's not fool proof. Once I see it with my visual discriminator I know it's a tab...

I want to be first in line to get the item, and thanks for the tip I will put it to good use:biggrin:

Can you prepay me $10,000 for the first one. I will send it right out. Remember to add 3% for PayPal.
I'll post it when I get several made.

Just very acute hearing. I can hear a fly fart. John can explain it to you as he has the same bat in his belfry. :)

Bill

...except tabs have a weak audio, ie, it doesn't last like a solid target does, and tends to fall of sooner as you raise your coil a bit.

You might be able to hear a horse fly fart? But I can only hear a horse fart. Maybe I can't hear so good because of all the screaming my parents and teachers did to me?

Bill,
I was going to make a trigger pinpointing kit to sell. But decided that it was too hard for people to perform. This accessory is added in just 30 seconds. It's so easy you don't need instructions. This accessory will be perfect for you.

Bill,
I have been working on a different approach in adding a trigger pinpoint to the Ace 250 and most other Garretts. It's still just in my mind. Draw me a picture of what you imagine your button to look like.

Khouse: It sounds like your idea for the ACE could be a winner... Just some free legal advice, protect your idea if it looks like it is going to fly. Patents are very expensive, usually $5K to $10K, take 2 years or more, and are nearly impossible to do yourself. Copywrites and trademarks don't sound like they would help you at all. It might make sense to license it to Garrett and let them produce it.. But this would take at least a patent application so you could at least say patent pending. Just a few thoughts for consideration.
