Found 1897 Indian & 1906 Liberty Nickel Last Night

I went to an old 1800's church last night and hunted on the lawn - near the parking area. Found a 1897 Indian Cent, a 1906 Liberty V Nickel and a few clad coins.
The Indian looks terrible in the photo but it's in really nice condition - probably the best one I found this year. The Liberty Nickel is also in the best condtion of the of the five I found this year.
So all in all - a great little two hour hunt ! :detecting:

The back of the V nickel looks pretty sharp.

Thanks for posting.

Very nice V Nickel! Why is it that they just don't seem to hold up in the ground very well? Can anyone answer that? It seems like they are always deteriorated when I find them.
Thanks,
Idaho PRB

Nice Coins! the V looks sharp!

I'm not sure if I'm going to clean this Indian Cent or not - I did clean all of my other Indians.

If I do I'll use Electrolysis - seems to work the best on old copper coins.
Salt & Vinegar work really well on Nickels.

How do you clean your coins Don ?
