I have not taken any pics yet but all I will say is they were minted between 1864-1873 and were the first coins to use the Motto"IN GOD WE TRUST".....I was not even thinking of finding anything today...just went to my buddys house to work on my truck and brought the New yeller feller with me to try out in his garden,,,,,it is actually a old race car drivers garden Named Ernie....he raced with Petty and the old gang back in the old days.....I found his lost chain just before the tractor could have ran it over...today was tilling day....I just brought it to find a lost ring of my buddys girlfriends mother who has past away, she lost it in the garden ...I tried last year with the Exploer XS and only found iron nails and pcs. parts of everything imaginable....I got lucky and found the first coin for me and a indian also...still have to clean it to see the date on the Indian......got to rest now......till Sunday ...I will post my first....

Make sure it doesn't say (God we trust). If it does it's an early edition one. Nice find.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I wasn't expecting it either. Man, I held that thing all day long and studied it and tried to scrape the green crud off of one side with my fingernails. That was a day I'll never forget. Great find!

I think it looks better dirty[attachment 90495 P10104901.JPG]My first 2 cent coin and its a 1864....the Indian is 18??, can't get it clean it is in bad shape. Also found a small button and small Lock....and look at the junk.....it like the edges of iron....No Gold ring but hey I tried.....

If you find out anything about that lock let me know. I found one exactly like it at an old homestead, along with to large cents. Dates were 1826, and 1848. Nice Finds:thumbup:

I probably won't research the lock, but I have booked marked some sites on old locks, if you need any...of course all you need to do is google it up.....and those are great LC you found...my oldest is 1824....I feel the need for older ones!!! Got my wish list started....
