I'm back once again with the finds from the past weekend fellas. Hunted both Saturday and Sunday and had some nice surprises both days. So let's get to it!
Saturday Morning, Tim, Dan and I headed back to the location where I had found the 21 Indian Heads the weekend before in hopes of making a few more great finds. Dan found a few Wheat Pennies and a Merc with a few other finds as well such as a few Marbles and such. Tim found a couple Indians, a Token, a few Wheats, a Foreign Coin dated 1931, a Buffalo Nickel and some Silver (can't recall exactly what he found but nothing big for Silver). Rick and Lavonne even came back and joined in on the hunt on Saturday and both found a few Keepers. Lavonne found a V-Nickel for sure but can't remember what else she may have found. Rick found an 1884 Indian Head, a V-Nickel, a Wheat Penny or 2, a Fishscale dated 1893, and what I think maybe a Gold Ring with maybe a 1/4 Carat Diamond in it. The Band didn't have any markings due to how thin and small it was but it looked Gold and it read 1 on Digital, right in the Tinfoil Range where Gold should read when that small. Hope she turns out to be real Rick and if it does, I wish I would have been the one to dig her! WTG Buddy!!! The reason Rick found this Ring is because he was using his Fisher this time and digging a lot of Nails, and just about anything that gave a good Signal, he dug it. Goes to show that all that work can pay off. What I found was what I thought was one of the neatest finds I have found to date. I got a little Head made of Lead. Hey!! That Rhymes!!!
I don't know what it is from, if it was a Toy or possibly for the end of a Pencil way back when, but this is a really Neat Item. I also found a bunch of Misc. Items as well. For Coins, I found a Fishscale, 3 Merc's, 1 Barber Dime, 1 Rosie, 1 Jefferson Nickel, 4 Indian Heads, 1 Silver Quarter, and a few Wheat Pennies. Even though it didn't turn out to be like last time's hunt, everyone had fun and found a few Keepers to bring home with them.
Sunday, I decided to stop by a Park that I have done well at before in the past and give the Pro Coil a work out to see what it could do. I started detecting digging multiple Screw Caps and a few Newer Coins. After about an Hours hunt time, I finally got that Signal and ID that I had been hoping to find. I looked at the Depth Meter and it was over 3/4ths the way down and was Loud and Clear reading a Very Nice Solid 28 on Digital. I then went into Smart Find to see where the Cross Hairs were at and I was excited. It was Locked onto a Half Dollar! So I proceeded to dig a Plug, being very careful digging the Dirt out. I used the X-1 Probe to see how close I was in Pinpoint and I was getting very close to where the Target was. I then angled the Lesche way back and stuck it Deep into the dirt so not to hit the Target. I pulled back and took the Digger out of the hole. I then seen the Target down in the hole which was a good 10"+ Deep and it was a Half. YIPPEE!!! I thought for sure it was going to be a Barber Half but not this time. It was a Walker but I will take it without any regret. I then covered the hole and called Rick(ND) up. He didn't answer at first but he called back. I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was working on his Wood Cutter. I told him that I thought I should give him a call and let him know I just dug a Walker at 10"+ with the Pro Coil over an area that has been worked before by many Explorer User's, including myself. The Ground was Dry so this may have been a factor in why it was never picked up before with the other Detectors. I have noticed that I have been digging Deeper Coins in Drier Ground with the Pro Coil which is just blowing my mind. I love this Coil!!! I chatted with Rick and told him about getting a few other finds the night before on the way back home and told him the Pro Coil is really starting to impress me. We got done chatting and I started detecting again. I dug 2 more Rosie's, a few more Wheats, and 2 more Silver Quarters before I called it a day. The Quarters were Very Deep, at least 10" if not all of 11" and gave Strong Repeatable Signals. They were surprises since I never went to Smart Find to see where they were hitting, thus putting a smile on my face when I seen they were Quarters. This is one Neat Park and hope it keeps giving some great finds on return hunts.
So let's get to the finds I got during Sat. and Sun. I ended the weekend with 12 Silver which included 1 Walking Liberty Half Dollar dated 1936, 3 Washington Quarters dated 1944-s,1948, and 1951-d, 1 Barber Dime dated 1899, 3 Merc's dated (2)1918-d and 1924, 3 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946,1946-d, and 1954 and 1 Canadian Fishscale dated 1910. I found a Foreign Coin once again made of Aluminum that reads 1 Etat Francias on the Front and on the Back reads Travail Famille Patrie 1 Franc 1943. Some of the Letters are hard to read so it may read a bit different but that's about what I can make out. I also found 1 Jefferson Nickel dated 1939 and 1 Canadian Penny dated 1938 which will be together in a Pic. I dug 4 Indians and they are dated (2)1893,1901, and 1908(no S). The 1908 was in excellent shape when dropped but the ground has eaten it a bit on the front. If you look, you can see some spots on the sides next to the Lettering that still have some Mint Luster to it. Weird??? For Wheats, I dug 24 more of them. They are dated 11,17,17-d,(2)18,19-s,26,26-d,29-d,35-d,37,39-d,41,42-d,(5)44-d,45-d,(2)46-d,47-d, and 52-d. For Misc. Finds, I found a Lead Head from something? It hasn't been broken off of anything so I am thinking maybe it had to do with a Pencil Type Eraser Cover or some other Toy, a Marble, a Button with North Dakota on the Front and on the Back it reads D. Klein & Bro. Philadelphia, a couple Whatzit's, a Junk Ring, a Sea Shell, 2 other Buttons, and a Gold Plated Religious Pendant for a Necklace that reads Sacred Heart Of Jesus Protect Us on one side and the other reads O Mary Conceived Without Sin Pray For Us. That's the finds this time. Part:2 will be coming up with the rest of the Pics that I couldn't get on this Post so stay tuned. Thanks for looking and as always, Good Luck and HH to you all on your next detecting adventures.
