Funny story!! Well kinda??

I have been seeing many talk about how the coils ears break so I ordered a ear stiffener for good measure. You know just to protect mine from breaking.
So I take my bolt out and guess what? My one ear is already broke! My coil is out of warranty so I am prepping it to go ahead and epoxy this stiffener in place.
Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you!!

Sorry to hear that. Mine broke three weeks ago. I had a coil stiffener on and it didn't make any difference.
I think you have the right idea, when mine goes out of warranty in November I plan to epoxy the stiffener in place to the coil itself.

Jeff, sorry to hear but what coil did it happen with, 11 inch or other?
Mine was 11 inch.

What kind/ brand of epoxy seems best for the ears? I really like JB Weld but would the iron particles in it have any effect on coil performance? Thanks beforehand.

Maybe I will epoxy my stiffener in place before the ears break..What epoxy are you planning on using?
Mark

The 2 part epoxy and make sure it says it will work on plastic.
Don't use something like super glue. That stuff weakens when it gets wet.

I'm going to use the loctite marine epoxy myself. I don't have a lot of experience with different epoxies but I use the marine epoxy to patch my fiberglass canoe.
I also use it on the bottom of all my coils once the warranty runs out. It has held up fine so far.
