Well, we finally got back last evening, from out little deer camp and fishing trip. Scott bush hogged and spread out some poison for the chiggers, ticks and ants, and I went fishing.

We have not had any rain to speak of, and the lake was really low. There is a levy that divides the lake making it almost two separate ones. There is just enough room in a break of the levy to pass your boat thru from one side to the other. So, I took Lil Brother

You musta beat the water to a froth and I'll bet that snake was headin' the other way. He'd probably NEVER seen such a thing! He was probably in more danger than you, since he coulda been sucked up by the undertow you created.

Water Moccasins are just ugly, mean natured, dangerous snakes and the world would be better off without them. I dislike being the one to tell you this, but you folks better take a few .22 rifles up there and thin those snakes out...is sounds like they are already over running the place. although i am not squeamish about snakes and used to hunt Rattlers to make hatbands, i have a healthy respect for them!

And Fred is right. A .22 would help to take care of them. I have never yet seen a moccassin [or any poisonous snake for that fact]. Guess i will count myself as lucky.

water moccasins but if we did we would figure a way to put them on the menu, maybe a moccasin brat .

Snake is very tasty Sunny, as a young boy growing up in California when California was still bare of people I use to hunt rattle snakes with a golf club when we went hunting for rabbits with rifles. When walking though the thick bush a rifle was useless, you could not react fast enough with the rifle, but could with the golf club

I haven't hunted a snake in almost 30 years now, but I always remembered what my grand ma said about cooking snake, grilling it is good but boiling it in water and garlic is the best taste, stays moist and tender, god she was a great cook and I miss her.

So the next time you folks go out onto the water and into the bush, grab a nine iron

Your fish eat moccasins? LOL I have never seen one of your fish that was big enough to do this. Sounds like a "fish tale" to me!

a pistol, or a .22 rifle. They are filled with #12 shot, Within 12 feet they work excellent and its hard to miss.

I forgot about this morning. Snow! But it only lasted a couple hours. In the one picture you can see the snow at the higher elevations but it was not bad at the lower. You have to bring clothing to cover the gambit

I have one and I have all the interchangeable barrels for it. They have it in a 44 magum with shot loads for it. Does a nice job on snakes. There is another one out also by another company. Snake Charmer I think. A gun shop will know.

My daughters White shepard got bit by a water snake about 2 months ago down in Charleston, SC in their back yard. His face swell up enourmous. They got him to the Vet and they put him on intravenous all night. He pulled thru it OK...They said it was a Water moccasin. She then had a friends of one the the horse students she teaches come out and put some kind of snake repellant pellets around her yard. She said they are pretty aggressive..... While I like nature, it sounds to me like there maybe to many around that area for my taste and I'd be thinning them down also.
