Have you ever wondered if you passed any gold coins?
I have,and i am thinking i may go back to some of them and hunt for gold only!
Even if i have to hunt a small spot at a time to keep from digging too much.
It opens up the hunting areas all over again it seems.
Sure do dig a lot of junk too LOL but i do get a lot of digging in!

I'm with you, that's why I'm so slow in covering any area I hunt. I may dig alot of junk, but I don't care 'cause I always enjoy the excitement of when I pull something unexpected out of the ground. Best of luck on your next gold quest!

How common was gold coinage in it's day anyway?

If you are digging Nickle signals then you should not be missing the small gold...and if you are digging 12 31 and 13 44 indians and pennys then you should not miss the larger gold coins. Also be sure to put yourself in an area where they would of used the gold coins and had a good chance at loosing them as well.

The 2.5 dollar gold coin i picked up came in nicer then a pull tab at 7 inches and 12*24 had I been in a pull tab infested park I probably would not of dug it but I was in an OLD spot. The five dollar gold came in with a good tone at 12 29-31 and was just deep and I had to see what it was...nice surprise.
Many of the Gold coins I have seen on the site did not come out of pull tab littered parks or other areas but more likely hidden amoung steel caps. Go back and search to see what you think.
