Got a phone call Saturday from a business owner needing help. The gentleman was requesting my assistance with a metal detector to find a metal T-bar and chain attached to his septic tank lid. With approximate measurements off the corner of 2 buildings we came up with a reference point to start. I used my E-Trac and got a good signal with the depth meter maxed out. Not sure if this was the item in question but we marked it for later since the ground has a little snow and partially frozen.
The gentleman tried to pay me for my time and efforts and I declined. During conversation he told me about 10 acres he owns where he had a small bulldozer come in to make a road into the area. The dozer pushed out a civil war era saber/sword blade. This area was suppose to contain either a confederate or union encampment. When the weather warms a little he is going to take me to it and has given me permission to detect it.
May turn out to be a good spot and I am looking forward in checking it out.
