The pinpoint is hard enough to deal with compared to the SE...but man when you switch on the Sunray probe....that is when I really don't like it. The probe is just not anywhere near as effective as it is on the SE. That has nothing to do with the probe of course....it just functions as the EXII does.

Second, I understand your problem with the pinpoint except my view is a 180 from yours--I hate the pinpoint on the SE! Funny, eh? I guess it's what you are used to. For me, I can't stand VCO. The "knife edge" of the EX II is like the Sovereign. Narrow & accurate. All I do is back the coil off the target and where the signal drops off is where the target is. With the SE, I am never sure where the high point of the VCO is. Drives me nuts.
You know what ML should do? Put both options on one machine. It's only software, right?
And you are right, the EX II is the best of the series for handling iron. And it also rules on saltwater beaches.

after many years on the Fisher CZ's....I just love that style of pinpoint feature. I believe you have a few years of CZ experience under your belt too though

What I should have clarified a little better in my post was that the EXII pinpoint isn't so bad to my ears...and not that hard for me to deal with. It's when I switch over to the Sunray probe to investigate the hole...that I hate it.
Once I get the hole dug...I can't correctly pinpoint the target with the probe. The probe just sounds all over the hole.
With the SE...I switch over to pinpoint and I can usually get within 1/4" of it very fast.
I also like the way the SE ID's targets in the AM pinpoint mode.
I do remember when the SE first came out though...and everyone was having some issues with stability...me being one of them.

35 years and only this to be your 2nd with a date just makes it that much more sweeter when you find them. I see you found an Old Pencil Sharpener also. I found one of them last year! Pretty neat items to find. The Foreign Coin is a Chinese Cash Coin. Not sure how to translate it but some can be really old. Congrats on a lot of nice keepers and Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you on your next road trip or outing.

A great trick that I use is to take a digital picture of the coin which you already have.
Then I enlarge it on my computer screen when trying to find the fine details of the Chinese characters.

Suck 'em down!Bryce, the coin with the square hole is a Chinese coin. There are some sites on the web at which you'll be able to identify it. The best site I've found is a Calgary (Library or Museum site), it shows a range of coins and you should be able to identify yours. The old Chinese coins reflect the era of that particular Emperor, rather than specific dates. Some of the markings refer to the era, some to the place of minting. Check it out...it could be the oldest coin you've found. Sapper.
