Got my Ace 250 in the mail yesterday, TKS loadin2! First impressions...

This machine is well built! I was expecting a lighter, flimsy machine w/ the thin coil w/ the s video coil plug (BH was in my mind and that's because big k showed the 505 as a better comperable unit on their page, not!) ............Uh, no. It's solid, the poles are good, the coil is hvy and solid w/ a good cable and connector. I never expected such quality for the price!!!!!!! No wonder garrett is kicking *ss. The meter reads good- zincs come in near penny(and could be notched out), copper penny comes in as a dime, dime=dime qtr=qtr. square tabs show up as nickle but have a slightly diff sound vs. a nickle. The video is very helpful/godsend for a new user. Also Mr. Garrett recommends 10 hours in the all metal mode to learn the machine and 100 hours to master it- solid advice. I can't wait to get out and try it. From bench testing looks like a keeper, and I apoligize for thinking it would be a cheapy!!!!! I haven't got my 4 inch coil yet, soon *^^&* mail!!
It also seems like they put USEFUL things/features on the unit, the stuff you need not a bunch of tecnobabble do-dads that don't really help. Bottom line: Solid unit well worth the $$$. Iam corrected and impressed!!! GO :garrett: ! ! !

Sounds like you will be doing well in the ring department. You have discovered how to recognize most pulltabs. Now your nickel and ring counts should be better then average.

Cheap price...Yes! Cheap on quality....absolutely not!

Good, now go find some goodies and post some pics. :) You're going to love that Sniper - a little 4.5 inch donut that gets about seven inches in depth - depending on soil - and you can crank the sensitivity up with that little puppy. You might want to start out running your sensitivity at four bars and no more until you get adjusted to the Yeller Feller. It's a sensitive little rascal.

It's a very good unit. Looking forward to some 30 deg weather up here in MI! Hell it will be a heatwave compaired to this neg 3 deg stuff! I'm gonna try to sit down and just waive targets in front of the coil and really listen to the machine cause I know it will help when I can get out. But it does make a diff sound on the nickle than on the square tab. Got to dig around and find a beavertail tab and see what it sounds like. VID on the square tab was dead on the nickle icon. Now if it just had a hunt mode like the pinpoint!!!! AM deep!! Thanks for the tips and tricks from yall!!

Yeah it makes a lot of fancier machines look pretty bad. :) Garrett put a lot of surprises in that little machine.

It is a lot of feature for the buck. Just looks at all the posts/reviews out there. The 4.5 sniper coil is actually a good coil for the buck too.
Always good to hear someone sound/feel positive on a machine. Don't ya hate getting something that's totally disappointing.
Garrett must have sold a tons of them by now.

was holding a 1 inch steel screw in front of a clad dime(4-+5 inches in front of the coil), the dime still sounded off, granted only hit well left to right, up and down was very scrachy. Most machines just stop looking when faced with an iron target and disc out the whole thing.(or null) So now I know if i get a good left to right signal and no or scrachy up and down, then move 90 deg and get the oppisite response it very well could be a coin in the junk........and this is with the 6x9 coil.....Impressive. Wait........Garrett DOUBLED the factory off the ACE 250??? I can understand why.....now!
I'm still not wild about the ding-dong avon calling coin sound but it's liveable. Also I'm glad I've got volume controls on my GG's this sucker is loud! So more tinkering is in order......

i like that ding dong avon calling.it lets me know there is a coin somewhere.
glad your having fun with the 250.
i sure am enjoying mine.

Maybe I will like it, won 2K on a Playboy Bunny machine once. Wooot! More fooling and testing coming! snow!

It sounds like you were expecting what I did almost 3 years ago. I read the reviews. I figured there were some people blowing smoke up my coil rod. But I bought one anyway. Here comes this yellow detector delivered by Mr. Brown (truck). I opened the box to find a $200 piece of crap toy. "Hey wait a minute" "this thing is nice" All adjustments right on the front! Build quality is top notch. Coil is built like a tank! It took me all of 2 minutes to figure it out. No need to read the manual. Dollar per feature is the best I have found so far.
