Not yet Rich. Won't be here till Tues. The ring and the 43s were find on my way home this AM at a new site I found. All within 10 min. Then I had to leave. I'm going back with the new coil ASAP.GR

Good start to the weekend. Keep us posted when the new coil arrives. I am debating about getting the pro coil so would love to see how it works for you. HH

GR, that's a "doh!" on my part. I even responded to your other post 45m before that. Was a strange morning--my landlord is weeeeeird--and I'm still excited to read about the new coil reports.

Was thinking today that, given the prices the 1050 coils are bringing, Minelab pretty much knew they had to compete with their previous coil. I'm getting to the point where the Slimline can talk or sing to me at times so it'll be really interesting to see how the Pro does. Over the past few weeks/month I've pretty much gone from running 20-24 manual to 24-28. Though I'm also starting to play around--saving it in User B--a setting a bit more like Bryce and JamesND with it set on semi-auto, often at 32, gain up, in conduct, and with IM set to -30 to -28 somewhere. Was playing with that today when I got out for an hour and got a nice sweet signal. Tested the signal in my standard mode (in User A) and it was more broken (but still sounded really good). Popped out a large copper at 8" or so. (Peroxide ate what little detail there was but I think it's a counterfeit KGII halfpenny going by the shape of the large left-facing bust, the weight, and diameter.) Was detecting with a buddy using a Tesoro Silver uMax and I'd called him over to see if he could read it and he couldn't get a peep out of it. I said with a grin, "you sure you don't want to play with the Sovereign now?" (I had it in my car and had offered it to him earlier since he doesn't seem to be getting much depth.) He smiled wryly and said he did. (We'd been talking about the lack of depth earlier. My first detector was basically the same thing--a Sidewinder uMax--and I never could get much depth out of that.) Anyhow...

Doug, I sure learned that a little over a week ago. Popped on the X-5 for a particular situation and, even after leaving it on and using it on my next outing, I couldn't get it to sing to me like I can the Slimline now. Played around with settings some but never could find a sweet spot before I gave up and went back to the Slimline. Did you have you had to make many adjustments with the Pro coil? Particularly, did you have to adjust the threshold tone at all? (That's made such a huge difference for me.)

Are you talking to me Rich? I am not sure what you are asking.......I never touch the Threshold tone # once I set it to my ears(liked the sounds it gave me for tone seperation)......Some coils can be ran hotter.....the new 11" pro is one of them....any small coil like the 5" can run maxed sens. and even put up the gain a notch......for some reason I like to keep gain so I can determine the diff. between deeper and shallow coins.......if it is too trashy a hot machine may not be good....it's trial and error.

I need more time with the new 11" coil but so far I LIKE IT!....I just may take it out today at an old park I have been hitting for some time and see how it does there....I need to find some place where the coins are deep.....not very many here....

I haven't tested to see if the Threshold Tone changes with different coils. After your post I got to wondering if it might. (Not that you alluded to it but I was having such a hard time with the X-5 it made me wonder.)

Well, you can come down here to visit and I can take you to a few places where they're deep. :)

I can't wait to hit that new site with the new coil. It's behind an old library and the ground has not been messed with. I'll keep you posted.GR
