Returned to the circa 1820's house that I've personally hunted out over the past 11 years. Over the years I've had trouble with a certain lg. area of the side yard (an unbelievable amout of crazy continuous chatter and falsing - if I wanted a challange and a headache, I hunted that portion of the yard). Anyways, I glanced over Andy's book again the other day and read where it said that in some areas the only thing you can do is reduce your sensitivity way down. What the heck. I dropped my senitivity from 26 to 10 and guess what. It worked! 1st and 2nd pics show my 4th Battle of new Orleans era button from this site and in what I think is in awsome condition for it's age (1812-1815). I believe it's a scarce plain oval pattern Foliated "I" infantry button. The 3rd and 4th pics show the first spur I've ever found (brass and not sure of the age). The 5th and last pic show a 1915 D penny in decent shape and a toasted 1848 lg. cent. Also found was a small musket ball, camp lead, another wheat penny w/ no date and other brass/copper junk. All my finds were 4 to 6 inches down. I'll let you know what I find next.
Good luck at your sites!!!
