Was hunting a new park to me today and the only thing I found was a 1922 half of a half crown. Who ever had it had been in the US navy and had belt sanded or ground off one side of the coin and then with a dremel tool had put his name, navy # and USN. I wasn't sure what it was till I looked it up on the net. Took it home and showed my mom and she said she had gone to school with him in high school. The park was only a block from the school. He passed away just a couple of years ago and had no siblings. Another interesting note is 2 twins came riding by on horses and asked what I was doing so I explained and they asked if had found anything interesting? So I told them I had found a half crown what ever that is I said. When I got home I made a call to a guy who had let me detect around the foundation of an railroad depot and was thanking him for letting me even though I didn't find anything. His wife answered and I thanked her and she said she had just heard from a friend of hers in town that some guy had found a half crown in the park that afternoon. The whole town probably knows by now! About 100 people, but who cares no body detects in this state anyway!
