Was wondering if they would allow me to have 250 in my carry-on suitcase.

No Problems ,Flew Southwest Airlines to Ft Myers. Laptop, and Video cam must be out. Minelab Excal in carryon, never asked to open... 2 piece scoop was in checked bag.

Took the Excalibur to the Bahamas with the scoop. The scoop was in check in but the MDer was in the carry on. With the batteries and the wires running around I thought for sure they'd look at it. Didn't even phase them coming or going. Must be a common item and easily identifiable. I wouldn't put my detector in check in. Nothing is locked and if you get one of those that only security can open you gotta know that anyone working in the baggage can get one too. The baggage is handled by too many people in to many private areas for my comfort.

Just got back from round trip California to Roanoke with no problems. I had my F-4 disassembled and in my carry on.

Funny thing ...stopped me in Roanoke airport due to petrified rocks in my carry on. I picked them up at my dad's property. They just needed to know why I had them. I said I liked them.

never had problems in 17 yrs but my friend had a jar of pickled onions took off him, to this day no idea why he had them in his bag - it was a large jar as well.

I had a plastic jar of peanut butter confiscated. It was the size limit that triggered the inspection. I thought the rules applied to 'liquids,' literally. Nope! The inspector whispered quietly in my ear that it could have been plastic explosives, rather than some volatile luquie, even though it wasn't a liquid.

No problem getting MD on plane but would advise to put the shaft and coil in cargo and the electronics in your carry on bag.

Cold and low pressure in cargo hold can crack and ruin LCD if your display has one. (Also digital cameras with LCD.

This has happened to me.
