Headphone Question

I've pretty much narrowed my search down to 2 sets of phones ....The SunRay Golds, and the Gray Ghost Ultimates ....I chose these phones because they have a limitter on them and a volume control . .....I will be using them on an E Trac and a Sovereign GT ......Has anyone tryed both of these phones and please tell me which ones you picked ? .....Thanks. JIm

I can't speak for the Gray Ghosts. I was in the same spot as you back in August. I went with the SunRay Pro Gold and really like them. On my E-trac, the phone plug on the headphone does not go all of the way into the jack on the E-trac. The jack is shallow. This does not affect the operation of the phones and they do not come unplugged without physically pulling it out by hand.
 
I don't think you could go wrong with either one!
 
Hey Jim you ever thought about Black Widow head phones? Just curious... There worth looking at.. Not sure what your budget is but I've had Gray Ghosts before and like these better. Never had SunRay's but if it's put out by Sunray I'm sure its a quality product :)

I've been reading some threads where the ear pad material is already cracking on the SunRays that are only a few months old ...and they are not under warranty .....?????? .... Some say that the Gray Ghosts were kinda flat sounding on the Sovereign .....?????....... Don't know much about the Black Widows ..... I'm wanting something that if I have to , I can turn up and they will be loud , and have a very defined tone to them ....I don't want a veiled sound , or a smooth warm sound that sounds like a blanket is covering the headphones ....I want very clear and distinct tones ... Comfort and durability is a must also .....After all , these are not a cheap item , and should be made very specific for the detectorists needs .....Thanks, Jim
 
The SunRay Golds are definitely loud and clear. Just look at the stuff I've been digging in the last 2 months! I like being able to adjust the level on the right left sides differently.
 
The Sun Ray Pro Golds are working great for me on the Etrac. They are another quality product from Sun Ray.

Some how i hear a Randy Travis song in my head.
 
I have the Grey Ghost NDTs.... To me they don't sound as good as the stock Koss headphones, but I use them because I like the individual volume controls and they are comfortable.... And... I'm not sure how old these are as I bought them used, but one of ear pads is cracked. It does not affect the useability, but they cracked nonetheless.

I'd like to try something different someday,but for now they are working and I'm saving for another machine to buy first. :)
