Headphones for SE

Magicman

Member
Just wondering if there is anyone type of headphone more suited to the SE.

What is the most popular type of headphones the SE users are using?

Have tried many, but the Ultimate Gray Ghost Headphones I feel are the best. Great tone. A little more expensive, but when you have the best detector, you might as well get the best Headphones.

I just purchased a set of Sunray Pro-Golds a couple of weeks ago....they are much better then the Koss ones that come with the explorer.

Can you guys quantify the differences between the headphones and exactly what makes one set better than another? Thanks.

Thanks for asking the question toy4runr

I would like to find a pare that dont make me hot and sweaty like the Koss that came with the SE, but with the same sound quality. Good question Magicman!
:hot:

I don't get sweaty w/ my Koss's--but it hasn't been warm that much yet. I want to get a new pair too--both to try better quality ones as well as to get individual volume controls for each ear (let alone that the strap broke already--is that covered in the warranty too?). So I'm watching this thread (as well as already searching this forum and the web in general Wish I could try a bunch of different pairs.

If you need the volume like some of do as our hearing is not what it used to be I found and use the Troy Pros as they work the best for us that have a hearing problem. If you have good hearing I find most of my customers preferred the Sun Ray Pro Gold. I have a few that like the Gray Ghost Ultimates and the Gray Ghost NDT too, but the Sun Ray Pro Gold is my best seller.

i'm having some success w/black widow's i just got. they block out just about everything (outside noise)...even the wife calling on the cell phone!

Now that's a bonus..... Just kidding ladies, we love you....

Thank you for asking the question; headphones are just as important as what type-brand detector you use IMO. :)

I've used Gray Ghost NDTs & Ultimates; both top notch. I purchased a set of Killer Bee Hornets a month or so ago. They remind me a lot of the GG product. They are built like a tank and the cord attachments are as tough as any out there. The KBs are a little heavier IMO but very comfortable. I bought a pair of SunRay Pros. I like them okay but the cord could be longer. They are light however and very responsive. The SunRays also are very comfortable.

Good luck!

I like the Gray Ghost Ultimates and the Killer B Hornets.

Rick, is there any particular reason the Sun Ray Pro Gold is the best seller? besides being good.... What is the reason you hear folks saying they got to have them?

Thanks

Most tell me they are the most comfortable and best tone quality on the Explorer, they can tell the good tones better. I think most people that want a set knows someone who has a set already, so word of mouth sells more than anything else.
