I wanted to get as many opinons as i can I want to get a new pair of headphones wanted your opinon

Just kidding:devil:For the E-Trac and Explorers I only use Sunray Pro Golds as I have tried most top end phones and still have several pairs but the Pro Golds give my ears the best and most identifiable high silver tones to the lowest foil tones,Ray.

Koss UR-30's came with my E-Trac.
I like them. But it may be that I've just got used to them.
Can't say that I've tried other brands.

I got a pair of the Gray Ghost - Ultimate's for Christmas and I think their great !

This question has been been posted in this forum several times over the past few months. I think you'll get the same replies - everyone has their favorite brand and model.
All it boils down to is what ever you like - what evers comfortable and sounds the best to you. I think that you'll find that any of the manufacture's higher end headphones will do the job.
If you have a metal detector dealer within driving distance - you could try on the different mfg's headphones and see what you like the best - this is one negative of ordering by mail.

Good Luck ! --- Mark

I kind of think comfort is a major point. If you can't wear them longer than a couple of hours without an ear cramp your hunting time is going to be less.

The other thing that makes sense to me is if we are all listening for little nuances that differentiate a goody from an iffy, you ought to make sure whatever phones you go after can electronically do that. Just like their are crap ear phones for MP3 players that leave out or distort part of the audio spectrum, the same thing can happen with the phones used on detectors. I did some research and the only ones that really published the full specs on their phones was the Rats. They aren't being made anymore but the physics are still the same. Silver started showing up much more often when I went from Killer Bees to the Rats. The only way I can describe the sound is that it is fuller. It's not high, shrill. louder, etc., it's just more complete. Haven't tried the Sunray Golds and it would be fun to try them sometime. jim

What Grumpy said......I own Ratphones,(original style) and love them. No other phones that I have personally tried even came close to them. I would like to try the Sunray Golds,(haven't yet) and compare.

I have two sets. The first I've had for years are Detector Pro "Grey Ghost Ultimates" and the second pair is Killer Bees " Wasp" model both are excellent with volume controls for each ear limiter switches and full cuffs. They really are both excellent units.I am using the Wasps lately.

For the Explorers & Etracs---Sunray Pro Golds, all the way!----Try a pair on these mentioned detectors and you will see why.

I started with Grey Ghost NDTs great headphones but then got some Ratphone CPs and the speakers in these just make everything sound better.
