Here's the treasures from this weekend. At least I met my Quota!

Hit a few Parks in North Dakota and I found what I was needing for the upcoming Find Of The Month this weekend. I needed a Foreign Coin so I headed up North to try my luck and also to get away from the Rainy Forecast. I had some strange readings this weekend. I got a reading of 27 on Digital and expected a Wheat Penny but found an Indian Head that should have read 25. I also had another 27 reading that turned out to be a Canadian 5 Cent Silver Fishcale that also should have read 25. There were a few Wheat Pennies that were reading 24 and they were only about 6" deep. One other thing happened as well. A big problem with my X-1 Probe! It was falsing with the High Tone of 31 a lot and quite a few times, the Probe wouldn't even pick up a Coin unless I touched it. The ground wasn't Iron Infested either and it also got stuck half on half off a few weeks ago which made the Detector start falsing with a High Tone like Interference would sound like and I had to flip the switch a few times to get the Detector to work properly again. I will be getting a New Probe after the Hunt it looks like. Now onto the finds. I found my Quota of 10 Silver this weekend. They are 2 Barber Dimes dated 1909-d (only 954,000 Minted) and 1911-d, 5 Mercury Dimes dated 1924-d,1935-d,1940-s,1943, and 1944-d, 2 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946-d and 1952-d, and a 1910 Canadian 5 Cent Silver Fishcale that is the same size as a Half-Dime. I found 4 Indian Heads dated 1887,1895,1899, and 1901. There in tough shape! For Wheat Pennies, another 24 were recovered. The dates are as follows. 10,13,13-d,16-d,16-s,17-d,18,(4)19,(2)25-d,(2)26-d,28-d,29-d,(2)30-d,31-d,34-d,39,42-d, and 58. I found a few Misc Items again which consist of a Gold Plated Ring, a Silver Plated Ring, a Bob Cat Cubs B.S.A. Pin, a Flower Design Button, and a Religious Medallion that says on the back "Linen-Touched To The Holy Tongue Of The Saint-Padua-Italy. Hope you like the finds and thanks for looking. Good Luck and HH to you all. :detecting: [attachment 66132 Silver.jpg][attachment 66133 IndianHeads.jpg][attachment 66134 Wheats.jpg][attachment 66135 Misc..jpg]

I don't think I've ever found more than 3 silvers in one day...WTG

HH,
SgtSki in Iraq

I got out yesterday and found a few pretty neat items myself. I got 4 to 5 hours in and then the rain came. It was off and on the whole hunt as well.I hunted an hour then sat in the car for 20 minutes. Then repeated the same.

Wow, I'd like to see what you could come up with after a weeks straight hunting!

I am in a Club with about 50 Members. Most are from North Dakota and then there are the countless other Detectorist's that I don't know of hitting sites all the time in my area. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few Hundred Detectorist's in this State alone. I just am Lucky I guess to keep walking into the Silver like I have been since I bought the Explorer XS in Fall 2001. Thanks for the Post and Good Luck and HH to you.

Just not sure if I plan on working thru the Vacation and taking another extra Check or actually taking a Vacation for a Week. I have only taken a Week's Vacation once since I have been working for my current Employer the last 11 Years or so. We will see what happens and if I do take off for a full week, I would hope to try to break at least 30 Silver for that outing. Thanks again and Good Luck and HH.

I post some nice finds but it sure is getting tougher to keep finds coming out of the ground in my area. The finds are here but a lot of the sites that I know about only have a limited window of time to get permission and hunt them. Time will tell when my finds dwindle down to fewer finds per outing, and then it will be time to try and get permission for private yards. Good Luck and HH KCK.:detecting:

When you find Silver, you never know exactly how many more are going to be popping out of the ground unless you really start patterning the area where you found the Silver Coin at. If there is Wheat Pennies, there's Silver to be had so really work them sites and you will break that 3 Silver a day if you put a full days detecting in. Thanks for the post and Good Luck and HH in your area.

I've noticed how Canadian silver can hit a little different on my machine also... In fact I've seen one fish scale that I dug, cull out when I was running bottle cap discrimination once.

The Ace 250 is a good Machine and it has very good Depth but I am one with the Explorer XS so I don't really need a different Detector yet. I am still thinking about the Explorer SE though or another Explorer XS for a back up unit. My buddy has the Ace 250 but rarely gets out with it. Something called a WIFE!!! Thanks for the post and hope you can move on and continue Detecting after that break in of yours. Yes Bob! I am still thinking about that post and how you still must feel. Good Luck and HH NHBob when you get out and do some digging and making them great finds like you make.

All the other Fish Scale's that I have found read 25 on Digital and the Silver Dimes and Quarters have read exactly what they were suppose to. This was a first time digging a Fish Scale with a reading of 27. Thanks for the post and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

I like finding them Indian Heads especially if there is a lack of Silver in the area I am hunting. Truely a well designed Coin. Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing.

Between you and me and whom ever is listening. This is my 3rd SE and something is different. :nerd:

And that something different is called "The Need To Succeed" NH Bob! Can't wait until you find that OLD SILVER and post it. Good Luck and HH!

Seem to get less and less each year and twice this year I met my minimum quota. So far I cant say I been skunked - just thought I was going to be a couple times. Those are the kind of hunts where I can grade a tab and hope its at least a F, VF or EF condition. Yikes..
WTG James.
