How good are the Etracs?

I've always been a Tesoro man and love them but I would like one with different tones for coins etc... My hearing is slagging some I need multi tone, is this machine to much for me to handle?

Can the machine get a virus from hooking it in a computer, sorry for the elementary questions, thanks.

E-Trac has more than quadrupled my silver. I normally find at least one silver coin each day I go hunting, and many times find more than one. It gives you a lot of information by tone, but even more by the TDI. There is a lot going on with this machine but it is relatively easy to get a handle on....it took me about a week. For the first week I was in hell....but it's been nothing but great since. One thing to keep in mind is that the unit is much heavier than most. My F75 doesn't even fill like I'm holding anything after working with the E-Trac. You do not have to hook the E-Trac to the computer if you do not want to, I do not believe that is possible for it to get a virus, I've never heard of it before. Bottom line Hank....no other machine finds more silver. Period.

Excellent machine !

I could get rid of some of my machines but I dont think I will ever get rid of my etrac.....its that good! It all depends on what best for you and what you consider important...for the most part, with few exceptions, Etrac is in the top 2 of best detectors

As far a virus....as said...Ive never heard of anything and I dont think its possible as you are not getting into the brain....just the patterns.

.

The Etrac is a excellent machine, though there is a learning curve. Ive had a Explorer SE Pro and from what Ive experienced the Etrac is alot easier to learn. As far as the computer, I know quite a few people who own Etracs and I yet to meet anyone who uses that option. I bet MineLab does away with that on their next flagship. As far as Im concerned its only a sales gimmick.

Being a Tesoro man, you are probably used to a light unit with very fast recovery speed.

The E-Trac will seem a lot heavier and less 'quick' than the Tesoro. But once you learn the unit and can handle the balance/weight change, it will find lots of deep goodies.

Nothing tesoro makes can come close to the E-trac... and I am a Tesoro niche fan... I have a Umax and it's a blast... but I bumped up from a X-terra 705 to an Etrac and it's like another world!

When Tesoro starts running 28 frequencies, and downloading local park patterns via a laptop, and hitting silver loudly in iron at over a foot!... then I'll never buy anything but a tesoro....

the funny thing is also.... I have experience on a 705 and jumped to a E-Trac and just had to fine-tune what was new.....

but if you had '0' experience, bought a E-trac, and went out, day 1, and ran it on the 'default' coin mode... you'd do better than at LEAST 57% of the other detectors on the market just by going with the hits...LOL

I'm a new Etrac owner. They are slower and heavier than what I was used to. But when I started digging stuff more than I was used to, I can tolerate those negatives.

Im not going to say they are easy to learn. I went from a pioneer 505 to a etrac and there's alot to learn. Put her in stock coin, auto sensitivity, keep it low and swing slow. That's it, the rest will come don't be in a big hurry to learn it to fast. Its an awesome detector!

Without showing just how much of a computer geek I am. It is VERY unlikely that the Etrac would be infected by a virus. Virus' are written by folks and usually tailored to attack a specific OS or software.

So good that i have quit park, dirt hunting. I just don't get the thrill of silver anymore. Barbers and older maybe.

Thanks for all the info it has been helpful. HHH.
