The ones mentioned in my signature are the ones we typically travel with(my wife and I are full time RVers). GTI 2500 being the one I use most of the time, 5"x10" double"D" Scorcher coil is my favorite, but I use the 5" EXcellerator double"D" in trashy areas and tot lots. I hardly ever use the imaging coils. If we're searching wide open areas and looking for deeper/older targets I'll use the 10"x14" double"D". Made some of my best finds with it over the years.
I use the Scorpion and Infinium in gold country(usually during winter). I swing my old Grand Master Hunter around every now and again. Made some pretty cool finds with it over the years.
I got that Ace 250 for wifey when it came out and she runs circles around me with that thing. I recently got an Ace for myself and use that 10"x14" EXcellerator on it. It's really fun to use and very light, which is quite pleasant.

I've got quite a few detectors I've used over the years that I keep in storage alot of the time which include CXII, CXIII, another Scorpion, GTAX 1250, Provider BFO, Coin Hunter BFO, Coin Hunter TR/VLF, Tactical Handheld Device(THD), Enforcer Handheld Scanner, Scanner wand, all Garrett's.
Harbour Freight pinpointer. All gathering dust with a couple of old Minelabs. The Musketeer Advantage with 18" EXcelerator coil and Explorer XS with 15" WOT.

I've used other brands throughout the years, but I always come back to my trusty green machines.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

.....do you own??? I was just pondering a little bit ago how I would love a new detector for Christmas. Then I got to thinking, I already own 7 metal detectors!!! Why would I want another one??? Part of the addiction I guess! I have 4 Garrett's, 1 Minelab, 1 bounty hunter and one Viper. (Not sure who makes the Vipers) Anyway....Sure would love to have a New Infiniumm LS for X-Mas!!!:detecting:
So I am curious how many detectors U own???

Michele
Currently the count stands at 6. I've had as many as eleven, but like you, I question my own need for that many. I'm working to reduce that number to a few top end faves and let it go at that.

Hi Michelle

After reading all the posts i dont feel bad having 2!!

Maybe one more just for kicks and Grins!!!
or perhaps a Pro pointer is a better investment?

I have the five listed below, a Whites Bullseye pin pointer a homemade pin pointer. I also have the Tandy / Radio Shack home built model that precedes the Compass and you could include those 2 National Geographic detectors that I have for my two boys. Get yourself the Infinium.

Michelle I have a ComPass XP-Pro, Garrett GTA 1000 Fisher 1280X and a Whites Classic III The XP-Pro still out shines all these.
But I used the Whites to hunt the beach during this past storm in the rain I did not want to subject the others to the rain and the 1280X was set up with two hand holds at the time and I could not find the single shaft! That Whites sure did tare up the beach finding a
1872 3 cent nickle, 1 gold ring and nice heavy gold metal, 68 plus dollars in clad and over 10 dollars in silver.

If your tossed between a 3rd detector or a Pro-Pointer for the next move, I'd get the Pro-Pointer next, then a detector after that. Unless your unhappy with the detectors you already have. IHO

I've got 2 1/2 -- a 1500 and a SeaHunter II and a Propointer. Would like to get an Ace 250 someday, maybe next year!

Bearkat4160, I've owned my Infinium for a couple of years and love the unit. I've found quite a few nuggets with it, (2 patches), however, it does not come close to the performance of the GPX 4000. In all honesty I believe I would've only found about 4 or 5 of these same nuggets with the Infinium. The count for nuggets found with the GPX now totals 25. Also today I found what I thought was 7 nuggets (small) in the same hole. I took them to Coiltec because they were so wierd looking. Their in acid overnight to test them. I hope they are gold as the count will go to 32! I'm not bagging the Infinium as it does everything it's advertised to do, but the sensitivity is lacking on smaller low conductive targets such as gold. One nugget I tested was a flat .35 of a gram, it air tested at just on 2cm to 3cm or about 1 inch for a small, but positive response. When rubbed on the coil, it gave a good signal. This was with the coil on highly mineralised soil. The swing speed on the Infinium varies from slow to super slow. At least 6 to 7 seconds for a single sweep or you'll miss gold IMHO. Regards Nugget.

The Pro Pointer RULES! I cant work without it. It works way better than my Sun Ray probe. If you dont have one, you dont know what your missing!
Spectra V3, CZ 3D, ACE 250 and the Pro Pointer

HI YOU ALL !! I HAVE 2 GIT 2500 ,1 CX PLUS ,2 ACE150 ,1 ACE 250 , 2 BOUNTY HUNTERS , 1 PIONEER 505 , 1 WHITES BEACH HUNTER II, AND I WANT TO PURCHASE A MINELAB XE :detecting:,THANKS GOD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ::wacko::rofl::angel:

I currently have 3. I have my main detector, an emergency backup, and a loaner. The loaner is an easy to use target ID detector that I bring along for a coworker or acquaintance to use if a little incentive is needed to gain access to a location.

Just one.. The Ace 250. I do have all three coils which adds to the versatility and greater
depth if needed with the 9x12 coil. So far it does what I want it to do, so haven't seen much
need to get any more. Besides, I can only swing one at a time. :/
The higher end machines add more bells, whistles, lights, and blinky things rather
than sheer depth or performance. Or to put it another way, my 250 with the big coil
can hit say 10-11 inches on quarters. If I spend twice as much for another one, I won't
get twice the performance. Maybe 10-20 % better performance if I'm lucky as far as
depth, etc.. So being the tightwad I am, I just stick with what I have. I'm also used to it and
all it's quirks, so that can help make up for any actual performance deficiencies in some cases.
Maybe I'm lucky that the soils I'm usually over are friendly to the ace 250.. :)
I do have and use a pinpointer also. Wouldn't be without one.. Spoiled I guess.
