I found my first large copper of the season

went over to my buddies house today who wants to start detecting, brought him my xterra 70 to use since it fairly simple to run. We hunted around his house and it was mega trashy so we drove around looking for somewhere to dig. We saw a old one room school with a bean field around it, we stopped and asked the house next door who the owner was, and we secured permission. Almost the first signal I got was the large cent. When I cleaned it off it was toast, so I tumbled it.....oh well it is still cool in my book..lol

I found the ice cream token in his yard, and the bike medallion I have no idea about that one?? The back is blank, still a neat find.

I included a pic of the one room school we hunted a long time after I got the LC and neither of us got another single coin or even a cool relic. We did however dig about 4lbs of aluminum cans though! ;D

Congratulations on the LC Terry! Thanks for the great pictures. That school was neat to see. Most one room schools are toast out here. They were all wood. After the schools closed, the buildings usually sold and were moved. We've got one our self. They're used for shop space or storage.

Looks like you had a great day there Terry !

Maybe... Google the name of the Bike Company and find out when the company was in business and put a rough date the medallion you found ?

I did not and they were in business from 1873-1915

I walked off an old homestead that was a trading post in the early 1800's empty handed. I still enjoyed the day, especially listening to the old timer telling me the stories that have been passed down throughout the years about the homestead. It had been worked several times in the past ten or so years, but thought the E would find something missed or too deep for the other detectors.

Cool looking school house, fun to walk around and wonder what it must have been like.

Thx for sharing,
HH
