As I started detecting Sunday Morning, I was having some good results until I finally noticed just how many Indians were laying in wait for me. So I got scared and called Rick and his wife Lavonne to come were I was at since I had an uneasy feeling and it would be best to have others around just in case something happened. So here goes the rest of the story. I went to a place and was going to try the Park since I have found Keepers there last year but didn't make it. I got side tracked and seen something else that caught my eye. I pulled over immediately and got the equipment out of the Van and started to detect. Immediately, I come into contact with a friendly Indian and this was just the beginning. I said "Hello" and the Indian greeted me the same. I didn't think of it much at first but later, it was getting Intense! I almost wet my pants!! I continued hunting and soon found a Wheat Penny and I rubbed it off to check the Date and found that it was a 1910-s Wheatie. YES!!!! This got me excited since this was my very first 10-s Wheatie that I have ever found and welcomed it with open pouch. I then proceeded and popped out a Barber Dime and then thought that this place was going to be LOADED! As I kept detecting, I was starting to feel uneasy. I had found a few Wheats, a V-Nickel, a Canadian Fishscale, and soon learned that 7 other Indians had been laying in wait for me. I got that uneasy feeling and I was glad to have the Work Cell Phone with. I ventured back to the Van SLOWLY, so not to spook the Indians and called Rick(ND) to see what he was going to do today. His wife Lavonne answered the Cafe Phone and told Rick that I wanted to speak to him. I told Rick of my situation, that I started detecting and was approached by 1 friendly Indian but soon found out that 7 others were lurking by and told him it didn't feel right and he said he thought they were going to be busy but would see what he could do about that. I figured that if there was going to a problem due to all the Indians present, that I better have some friends along just in case something happened. So far they seemed to be friendly but all it takes is one bad Indian to ruin that. So I told Rick to get a hold of me ASAP and let me know what he was going to do. About a Half Hour later, his wife calls me up and tells me that they are on the way and had put off some of the errands until during the week. They figured they would be arriving in about an Hour or so, which really made me feel relieved. Rick's wife Lavonne asked if I had found anything else since we last spoke and I told her that I had found a few more Wheats, another Canadian Fishscale, a Seated Dime, and had just dug another V-Nickel while talking with her. She told me that Rick had a smile on his face, ear to ear. It didn't matter how many Indians were present, Rick wanted his share of the Loot no matter what the cost was. You see, Rick and Lavonne hardly ever get out and detect anymore due to sites drying up or being too busy with keeping the Bar and Cafe going so since I found this that was producing, I figured what the heck and invited them to get some Keepers for the Find Of The Month coming up on this Friday and safety in numbers is always a good thing. Finally, Rick and Lavonne arrived to the location and I showed them what I had already found on the back of the Van's Floor. They were impressed and wanted to get out there and see what they could do. Rick didn't know what machine to use since he had the Explorer Se Pro and a Fisher with also. He asked how Deep the Coins were and I told him some are just under the dirt while others are a good 8"-10" Deep. He picked up his Explorer and we all started hunting. We finally seen a White Fellow and chatted with him for a bit. He told us that 4 other hunters had been there and he was amazed at what we were still finding. Then that told me that the lack of Silver was due to these hunters cherry pickin' for Silver. I wonder what those hunters had found when they hunted it? Most likely a ton of Barber and some Seated. At least they left us some excellent finds to make. We all found some nice stuff that day and plan on going back in numbers again since safety is Key to a safe hunt. It was around 9:00pm when Rick and Lavonne packed it in and headed home. I figured I would stick around for another Hour and see what else I may find. As you know, Rick Posted what he had found and what his wife had found so there is no need to go into specifics about the finds by them. I was still picking up Keepers at 10:00pm and only seen 1 other Indian after Rick had left so that was all good. This was a great hunt for 1 Days worth of detecting and will be remembered for a long time to come. Thanks Rick and Lavonne for meeting up with me at that spot and making me feel more comfortable. Glad you both got some Keepers for the Find Of The Month coming up, except Lavonne and that Walker she found that I was looking for.
Just kiddin'!
So here goes the finds found on Sunday. I found a total of 7 Silver which was great due to others have been working this spot already. I found 1 Seated Dime dated 1888, 2 Barber Dimes dated 1899 and 1900, 1 Merc dated 1943-d, 1 Roosevelt Dime dated 1962-d and 2 Fishscales of both variety dated 1896 and 1908. I also found 3 Tokens which included a Good For One Cake Palmolive Soap Free When You Buy One Cake. The other side is readable in the Pic. The 2nd Token is made of Aluminum and is in tough shape. The Front reads German Heater with a Pic of a Wood Stove on the front. The back is in bad shape but it does say something about the World's Fair 1904 which would be the Date of this Token. The 3rd Token is a Good For 5c In Trade made of Aluminum and in much better condition. The back only says Belmont on it so no town. That's it for this Part so make sure to read Part:2 for the rest of the story like Paul Harvey would say!
