Indiana Farm Fields... Epic Day

Well-known member
Its been a whole but these finds are post worthy.... Picked up a new manticore and broke it in properly over the weekend with my good buddy Jim. Its not often you buy a new machine and your first coin is a large cent  Had a pretty epic day, we spend about 6 or 7 hours hitting an old house site before the field gets planted. I am still learning the machine but I would say it did pretty dang well. We compared a lot of signals and there was only one button that was deep Jim said he probably wouldn't have dug. I ended up with 4 large cents, 1 1880's Indian, handful of flat button and a few broken points. The 4th largie was found using my Deus 2 with the HF coil. I spent the last hour swinging it. Jim ended up with an early large cent as well and a bunch of flat buttons. I was able to get 2 of the large cents live dig on camera. Crazy that all these large cents were lost and we have yet found a piece of silver.

Lots of memories and laughs made!

Until next time..

Thanks everyone,
Derrelld

Very nice.

What an amazing hunt!!

Very nice finds for a new detector first time out. Hope next time you will do better when you learn it more.

That's a great day. I'm curious how these and similar coins look when cleaned. I'm just starting out and have only found dirty clad so far.
I only run water and hit them lightly with a tooth brush. There are other ways but the fertilizer was pretty rough on these.

That's some really nice digging

At our age.

It just Really Nice to just see you getting out and enjoying yourself
That is Jim in the picture. He still says Im a young pup. I'm 37 and met him in a Muncie Indiana park about 15 years ago. We been best buddies ever since.

Yes sir, im coming along with it. I was able to find silver rosy yesterday and 3 wheat pennies in a pretty hard hit park. I just ordered the 9 inch coil

Just referring to your ability to use both Deus and Minelab products LOL
lol That is what I figured, I was just messing with you. I appreciate it!

Nicely done! That fertilizer really does a number on copper doesn't it.
