Indians, silver, V nickel, wheats and crotal bell

New member
Saturday met up with DiggerDan and we went knocking doors, first house was 1890s. I got a couple wheats, several 1940's nickels, so close to buffalos darnit....and one silver quarter. Then we went out to another house on the way home farmer told us it was never detected as he was born and raised there. So we figured it might be good.......well it wasn't! I got the crotal bell and that was it.

Today I went back to an empty lot I hunted this spring, got one silver and 2 wheats there at that time but it was real trashy so I wanted to give 2 tone ferrous a try, first old coin was a 1905 V nickel which I think might be the nicest V nickel I have ever dug! Then I got an 1897 indian which tied me for last yrs total injun count, then the second indian 1893 surpassed last years total injun count, Puts me at 58 for the year now.
Ended the day with a 1913D wheat

Nice finds; did you use the SEF coil on any at any of those sites?
yep I did, at the first house, I was pleased with its performance, other two areas were just BIG and I wanted to use the procoil

Nice job, Terry!

You ever get treated rudely just for asking to hunt in someones yard? As soon as it cools off and we get some rain I am going to have to give your method of new site location a shot!

Nice Finds Goes! Thanks for the pictures and the story! Congratulations on the IH milestone!!

yes I can remember about 3 times in 2 yrs where someone was rude, but 9 times out of ten people in my area are very polite and allow me, and even those who say no every now and then are still nice to me, why do you think I knock doors all the time

Nice finds man! That V is slick

Ray, i do the same thing as Terry. sometime Terry and i go together, but you do get those rude people and No's. just shrug it off and go to the next house. its usually the older fokes that say yes. if they get under 45 usually its a no because they think your going to be hauling treasure out of their yard by the treasure chest and stealing from them. I've had very good success at private farms, and i can promise you will too. just get out there and start asking! and search them front yards! BTW Terry has taught me all this and I've learned all this, so i give him credit!:bouncy:
