Is beginners' luck really possible?

My Son is not into detecting but lives in an area with revolutionary and civil war battles. So, when I went to visit him, I took both D1 and D2 with me to NC.
We couldn't get into contact with the owner to detect a farm field that was near a battle, so we went to a sports field to do some jewelry hunting. I was using the D2, he the D1. I was explaining to my son what a good target sounds like when he got an 86 signal.
I knelt down to show him how to pinpoint and cut the plug and out pops a nice 925 silver ring. After I showed him how to replace the plug and seat it, he went his way and I went the another.
About 1/2 hr. later he walks over and showed me a 10k gold ring he found. I did find a silver earring with my eyes, but that doesn't count in my book as a detecting find.

When people ask me about metal detecting, I always ask them if they ever found a $20 bill ?? $10bil ?? There are people who just have anack for finding things,
Ive seen that many times in England, some guys just walk in the right direction. They are always finding veru cool stuff. Me, i have to wonder for days !!!! :):):)

Yes, I do believe in beginners lucks. Some people just step in it all the time !!!! They have that kind of radar !!!

You should go out with your sone more often, Better yet, take him to England !!!!
