Good question!----It's been three years in Sept. since the release of the Etrac.----Minelab has pretty much had a three year interval between some of their detectors.----As good as the Etrac is, there is always room for improvement in any detector---not griping, just stating a fact.

I would imagine after 3 years something new is just around the corner.

I wouldnt expect to see anything major released anytime soon. The E-Trac is still the top of the field for coins. There is no reason for any company to release a new model when nobody can touch the current one.

I hope they somehow make nails come in at different COs than valuable coins. I know everybody can hear the difference between a 14-45 coin and a 12-45 nail, and that "that is what FE is for," but shouldn't nails come in at 50 or 39 or something other than 44s 45s and 46s? They flattened the pay line to 12 FE from the spread out FE pay line on the Explorer, why not do us another favor.
Then again they are probably working on something better than the color graphs on the V3i...
Of course it might just be a new x-Terra or GPX they are working on.
I know Minelab people read these forums so I'll repeat myself. Window Tint.

As a complete "newb" to the Etrac, please forgive my ignorance in asking what is meant by Window Tint?
Phillip-----A "window tint" would be a darkening (of sorts) of the screen to alleviate the persistant glare issue (in bright sunlight) that the Explorers/Etracs have had since day one.---It's a little less of a problem on the Etrac (IMO) but non-the-less, still a problem (on some days & in bright sunlight at certain angles).-------We don't have this issue/problem on the Xterras and I can't see any reason why it can't be resolved on the Explorers & Etracs.----In fact, I think it should have been years ago.-------I'm a "tone hunter", yes---but it would be nice to be able to actually see the screen when you want to!------------DelPhillip_in_NM said:

Working on the theory that Minelab updates their detectors every three years and the fact that the E-Trac came out in September 08, then next month would be my guess.
