Just got my new ctx 3030 and 17" coil and went to the beach.

I headed down to the beach with my new toy for the 4:30 pm tide. It was a nice evening 61 and a light breeze. I took off my 11" coil and put on the 17" smart coil. Boy that sucker is big I though my feet were big but it takes the cake. It is like putting on a snow shoe :Yikes:. So I get down to the beach and start swanging away to my surprise that big ass coil was as light as a feather. Nice Minelab  I swang that thing for 2 1/2 hr. with no problem. I could have gone longer. My arm was not sore at all. So how did I do: well did not find much 3 P, 1 Q, 1 D 1 N and thing the size of 1/2 a pencil eraser head. It has some weight to it but I don't know what it is. I will post some photo's. That sucker was 14" down so if there was anything there at the beach I would have found it. The numbers seem to be right on 12 -13 for a nickle just like the 11" coil. Seeing that I am new to the ctx 3030 and the 17" coil. I am not sure why there was so much grunting like iron but iron was blocked. I was in a lot of rocks ( ledge ) on the beach. But when there was a good target there it came it loud and clear. I moved away from the rocky part of the beach and the grunting stopped and ran nice and smooth. I went back to the rocks and it started back up again. Could it be hot rocks maybe. Did Minelab forget to add that the the beach program ??? to get rid of hot rocks. My E-trec never had a problem there always quiet on those rocks. That all for now

Hi Eagle,
I get those hot rocks too, what I did was rejected one and it put a 5x5 square middle left way up high on the screen now I don't hear them anymore, and I'm not loosing any good targets, give it a try and see what you think, Gene

Take Gene's advice and reject your problem targets. I do that often if I get into an area that has a lot of the same trash targets. When you finish hunting that particular spot change your screen back or set up a program for that area. What a machine.:super: HH :minelab:

If I use ground coin I get hot rocks around here. If I use ferrous coin it gets rid of the issue. Try switching yours around next time you are out and see how it goes. Just remember it will change your numbers a bit.

Thanks you all I will try that. Here is the photo's of that tiney thing I found with the 17" smart coil. I was a solid hit at 14" WOW. It is 1.6 gm. It is not led must be soder with a small steel clip in it ???. Anyhow I am loving my new CTX 3030 and that 17". I can't belive how well balince it is. So what would the numbers should I block out. Fe 07 to 01 up to CO 01 to 31 block that out may be. Dose that sound right. ??? Thanks

@ Eagle1, every site is different and should be handled as such. Not one program will be able to handle every site. The best suggestion I can give you is to be patient and explore all the different options and programs that the CTX 3030 has. With experience comes knowledge. If you would like some different settings and or search programs, please feel free to check out the CTX 3030 Resource Center. In there you will find many search programs that free to download for your many hunting conditions.

Thanks Gatekeeper I will do that. There 3 program's I am going to work on at the beach. 1 I will call it "THE IRON PIT" There 4 Beach's that on one end of the beach have lots of iron and maybe some rusty steel. Program 2 I like to make one for these big iron pipe's. there big like about 24" W . They are drainage pipe's for the road when it rain's. They go right into the ocean. I know there is a lot of bling and coin's there. The last program I want to make is for those sea-wall's with all the re barb in them. It will be fun to see what the ctx 3030 can do on that stuff. I will let you all know how they come out. Fun fun fun

Look forward to hear that Eagle1.
