Just saying Hello will be a new E-Trac user a new minelab user for that matter

New member
Well as i said it I will be new to the minelab family. This will be my first top of the line metal detector I don't have it yet but it wouldn't be long. I don't have any questions at this time as i have Andy's book and downloaded the E-Trac emulator that i kinda have been able to mess around with. So its kinda clicking I will have to wait for the snow to melt to put it all in use but think I should do alright. I hope to be posting some good finds w for everyone to see. And thanks again for the guys who responded to my earlier question. HH Josh:detecting: I will have to put it in my signature but here's the equipment i will be working with: Minelab E-trac with X-1 pin-pointer, pro coil, 8x6sef , 15x12sef and my lesche digger.

Looks like you're all set to go hunting. Can't wait to see what you find. Best of Luck!

Welcome aboard Josh !

I was told by many expeirienced user's that the E-Trac comes with a 100 hr. learning curve - after approx. 150 hrs. in the field with mine - I agree with them 100 %.
The 100 hr. zone is right when things started to fall into place for me - still have a long way to go.
Looks like your also set up with some top quality extra's too - it's the only way to go - like any mechanic will tell you - " I can't make a living with cheap tools " !

Good luck this season ! --- Mark

welcome. You will still have a ways to go with the learning once you get it cause it acts differently when in the field.
what it comes down to is using the setting to adapt to were your hunting that day. But you have a head start so it shouldn't be to overwhelming.
get yourself a long handle digging tool cause some places you go you wont have to worry about a nice neat plug.

here is mine i built years ago

Thanks guys. I also think i am going to help with the learning curve as i am going to join the Minnkota Artifacts Recovery Group metal detecting club. I think most of the members use Explorers so hopefully will be able to get out with a few of them to kinda help me out. I should have put were im most likely to hunt and that would be parks, schools, fairgrounds, old farmsteads only a couple of beaches to hunt, I guess your normal places. HH Josh

We are hopping to have you up and running shortly and meet all the members in our club and see what they are digging up with their Minelabs. There is only 2 of us Tim and myself with the E-Trac and you will be number 3 unless other picked up one over the winter months. Most the others have the Explorers and the Sovereigns with a few having X-Terras. The E-Trac is different then the Explorers and have to be set differently and this is where Tim can help a lot as he had close to 300 silver last year and know he got 3 seated dime and a seated quarter in one of his hunting trips in one old park in South Dakota.
We have some great members in our club and we hope we can help you in any way we can. I also found the E-Trac much easier to understand than the Explorer, that for me anyway.

I am hopping to be E- Mailing you saying the E-Trac will be in on Tuesday along with the Gray Ghost NDT headphones.

Rick

Thanks Rick, Yeah just sent me an E-mail when it comes in I will come over and pick it up after i get off of work. And hopefully the pin pointer will be in before the club meeting and then i will just pick it up then.

Well, I reckon you're all set. I wish we could all have that sort of advantage.... your learning curve just dropped WAY down.

I think you're in really good hands.

On your marks, get set....LET THE LESSON'S BEGIN!!!!!:nerd::detecting::clapping:

Yep cant wait but have to damn snow  and frozen ground and cold oh well gives me more time to reread manual and Andy's book and to find what audio selection I like. So yeah I'm hoping to hear from Rick tomorrow saying it was delivered and go pick it up and start doing some air tests to see what stuff kinda sounds like then when we can see ground and its kinda thawed let the fun begin.
