Just thoughts on head lamp

Best i can figure maybe was use for frog gigging or checking my uncles trot line any guesses to the age? I picked this up at my aunt's house the same one where a knife was identified as a bastard knife in an earlier thread still more digging to do so who knows whats next the only things i can make out is made in U.S.A patented pending then another two words i cant make out on top only one word Justrite

Justrite Manufacturing Co. of Chicago, Illinois 1912 to 1931. They had at least 154 different lamp models and I suspect yours is one of the later ones, a model number would help.

I have at least five of those. We used the first one I got for spelunking.
The top unscrews from the lower tank which holds the carbide. Clean out the white powder (spent carbide) if any. The rubber tank seal can be coated with a little Vaseline be careful with it since it may have gotten brittle with age. I haven't tried to find one in years. Looks to be in good shape. The upper tank holds the water and the wire with the notches on the top adjusts the water flow to the carbide tank below.
Ceramic tip is still there and in tact (they are usually missing.) Striker is the same as you find on Coleman lanterns.
Spray all the moving parts with a little WD40 and clean it up a little and she will probably still work.
