of helpfull articles for a newbie like Me .but now it seems to
be bit too specialised each issue.. I find W&E treasure to
be more usefull to me at this point

Lost Treasure is just too repetitive and reads like it was written by grade school kids. I mean, do they even KNOW what an editor is???

Ever since Lost Treasure tried to expand into the gold finding arena....their detecting stories have decreased.

They had more stuff like you want when they published Treasure Facts and I wrote a slew of them. I'm sorry they don't publish it anymore but have it as an addendum to their Treasure Cache Annual. If I ever get the lead out and start writing some more I'll shoot some over the transom for LT.

They used to have some good ones but they don't really pay the big bucks for the job and they don't pay writers squat plus they don't allow the room for a good writer to get rolling. They have become a catalog of advertisers and limit the stories to make room for advertisements..When one is limited to 1500 words or less you can't tell much of a story.

I used to enjoy reading Lost Treasure but it seems so that now most of their articles any more are about nugget hunting out west. There were 13 articles in the last issue (March) about searching for gold. It would make the magazine much more interesting if it was split up between nugget hunting and the type of hunting we do here in the east. In my opinion, W&E has a much better selection of articles for everyone to enjoy.

All true. I agree. Can't argue with that, guys.:wiggle:

Most folks seem to agree wit hme on this one..:clapping:

And the forum /utube site on the LT website is
usless too as far as i can tell

Anyway warmer weather is comin ......

they sometimes have very few urban treasure hunting articles in their magazine for monthes at a time. Not everyone is a relic hunter.

Although I recently renewed my subscription, part is in hope they get a little back on track on what interest me. If not by next renewal period, then I'll probably won't.

Each month they devote the magazine to a different theme rather than splitting the articles up among different subjects.

The most surprising thing about every metal detecting magazine I've picked up, is that there isn't any technical discussion, whatsoever. In a recent issue of WTE, was an article about MD myths. Goodie, I though to myself, finally a technical article. Not!

It is nice to read about someone else's hunting technique, as you occasionally pickup a tidbit, or you find out you're not the only one noticing a specific quirk about model X. However, that gets old when that's all you see, and little of that as it is!

Now I'm not talking about designing one, although an article about how they function might be nice once in a while. Or perhaps a short article about getting the 9 volt batteries out of a Bounty Hunter without breaking the battery retainer posts!

It just seems to me, there is a dearth of articles on the subject at hand--metal detecting--in all of them.

Yeah there's a good deal of room for improvement but guess they have to take what is thrown over the transom because they don't have many technical staff writers. These mags operate on a small budget
