Just Wondering..........

Not that it makes a lick of difference (it certainly doesn't), but I was wondering what all denominations are represented here. I do not believe that one is holier or better than the other, or that Heaven will be sectioned off (because it won't be). I believe that denominations are definitely a "man made" thing, but if we attend a church, then we pretty much have to pick one or the other. As long as we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, THAT is what counts. However, I'm curious as to what type/denomination/church we associate ourselves with here on the forum. Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Church of God, Pentecostal, Catholic, Church of Christ, etc.

I am baptist and we like to clap and raise our hands sing praise and hymns. We have a keyboard and piano and drums and our best drum player is a woman. And our song leader and pastor our wonderful people. Our song leader will almost preach sometimes and she loves to sing. I could go on all day as I love my church body. We are all the body on here too and I like sharing faith with each other.

I go to 2 churches, one is Apostolic, almost all old people, they play slow music, they refuse to have drums, guitars anything modern. I was born and raised here. I feel bad because they just refuse to do anything to attract people there. Really sad.

then I also go to another church called Lifehouse, they have upbeat Christian music, drums, electric guitars, ages here range from infants to adult, but a TON more younger people. A lot more lively here. They also are more accepting of the way people look. You know how some churches look down at someone with tattoos piercing etc.....well those people need church too, and that always upset me at my home church. One of my good friends has both his arms tattooed up and the preacher ask him to always wear long sleeves to cover up! I feel that is wrong. He should just be happy he was there!!!

so there you have it.......And yes I feel more comfortable at Lifehouse.

Baptist--Independent Baptist that is. We are not controlled by a larger outside source. We have a Pastor and a board of Deacons and Trustees who oversee the matters of the Chruch. We answer to God. As long as we believe in the shed blood of Christ and accept Him only as our Saviour, then we are all in the same boat.

Welcome to the forum tim hope you stick around and post often.

Hope you like it here. God bless.

The church we went to for over 25 years was a Community church (non-denominational) We are now members of "Country Christian Evangelical Free Church"
just a good old Bible believing church. My son the music man plays flugal horn, drums and congas on the worship team. My daughter sings now and then, and the wife and I are very active there too.

Great experience! Have to repent often though coveting all these great finds  especially them buttons. I'm looking forward to all I can learn from reading here.

Calvary Chapel - a non-denominational church started by Chuck Smith and is nation wide. There's so many people they had to split up and bought a second church building about 10 years ago. Same pastor serves both - runs between each one & is s.till growing. The pastor is great - evereything is right out of the Bible. Steve in so az

I am an official member of the Alliance church, it has the feeling of a non-denominational church. I quit the Roman Catholic church in about 1998 after about 12 years of going there totally dedicated, full-time, memorizing the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries of the rosary. Quitting and leaving the Catholic church is one of THE very best moves I have ever made in my life! Some great people going there, but that church IS full of errors, I can to into detail but far too much to talk about here!

I have never been so full of Holy Spirit before with help from Father God through Jesus Christ lately since I left. Real help and spiritual full-fillment over a long period of time. The Catholic Church was really dragging me right down and I could not see the forest for the trees at the time but sure glad I got out!

Hi Lisa! I was a Southern Baptist from the time I and Cliff started going to church with my mother and grandpa in a horse-drawn-wagon! But I started going to a Spirit-Filled Pentecostal Church in either 1985 or 1986 where I became a true believer in Christ! I was truly saved in 1986 and baptised in July right before my birthday! Was a sad time though, as my ex filed for a divorce in July and left our home in August of '86 just before his b'day! The Lord came into my life for real when I had to go through a very difficult time and a divorce! Can't tell you everything that happened good and bad, but he left when I was physically and emotionally ill ....and yet, Jesus was with me all through the worst time of my life! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus! As the Bible says, The Spirit of the Lord is with me!

No, my ex didn't even know I had been baptised the second time in my life (first time at 13) so I wasn't preaching to him or asking him to go to church with me! He had already let me know he was through with our marriage before he left! We had lots of prayer in Faith Tabernacle Church for the marriage to heal and that we not get a divorce, but God worked it out for my good and for His purpose! I blamed Him at first but now I thank Him for setting me free from a broken marriage and from sin in my life! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

We have recently been attending a Southern Baptist church with wonderful people. However, I am happier at a more spirit filled church who also treat women more equally. I believe God doesn't make any difference in men and women and calls both to ministry.

As a young boy, at the tender age of thirteen, my family attended the Christian Reformed Church until well after I graduated from high school. I joined the Army in '64 and by the time I mustered out, mom & dad had left the CRC and began attending the Reformed Church of America. I joined them for a number of years. The RCA we attended was primarily made up of families and, being single I felt some what like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, so I join a Wesleyan based Non Denominational Christian Church, where I stayed for a number of years. My education there lead me to service, as a children's pastor, helping homeless kids in the Philippine Islands for several years. I loved my work yet felt something was missing. After continued study of God's Word, His Holy Spirit answered my prayers leading me to become a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Christian Church, where I've remained for the past 10+ years. Prior to my teenage years and before being adopted, my birth mother was English & Baptist but father was Spanish and very much Catholic. At one time I thought I'd become a Catholic priest but that never came to fruition. I have found that God leads us, in the direction He desires we go, if we're open to following His lead through the gentle prompting of His Holy Spirit. The end result of my life, thus far, is this; if it's good enough for Jesus, it's more than good enough for me and I have therefore become a spiritual Jew awaiting His return to take His children home.
