Lurking on your forum!

I never used the smartfind screen on my SE. I found it easier to learn the numbers I guess that's why I like the ET better on relics, because the conductive number is so stable.

I'll give this some thought and maybe give the SE a try that way. (I used my SE for a year and never did enjoy using it, it was always like work to me.) I kept at it because I didn't want to give up on it. The E-TRAC immediately clicked with me. I had used the SE with patterns and conductive/multi for most of that time. It only began to make sense to me in the last couple of months I used it, when I switched to AM ferrous/multi. Since I still have it... i'll give it a little more time... using the smartscreen. I can find some targets with the ET and check them with the SE and visa versa... I have an old park down the road.

Thanks!

Julien

Although I am a BIG fan of my X-Terras, I am anxious for Bill to get an Etrac. I've had several Explorers in the past. But as I've gotten older (and more crippled up), they are just too much of a chore to swing. I understand that the grip has been offset on the Etrac, which has been reported to make it more manageable. If that is the case, maybe Bill will allow me to "borrow" it on occassion! :poke:

I know where Bill is coming from..... we have a few old parks that still yield an occassional old coin. But the trash in these parks is unbelievable with a dozen or more pull tabs and/or nails in each swath. I think I could do better with the X-Terra if they offered a small DD at 3 kHz. But they don't. If Bill pulls the trigger, I might just have to put the X-70 or 705 "head to head" with his Etrac. In fact, I can almost guarantee it! HH Randy

It's not what it does, it's how it displays the data. Both are great machines. But as I explained, for relics, I'd rather see the Smartfind screen on the Explorer as I feel it gives me more data with the good targets not being bunched up on the FE12 line, and Smartfind screen is not very useful (hard to see, less varibility in data) on the ET. I think with the Explorer I am more likely to dig an iffy signal than I am with the ET, and relics is all about iffy signals and ones you don't know what they are. Thsi is just my opinion, others may find the ET screens perfectly acceptable and prefer them.
