Just got my Manticore and hunted today with it. I have used the Deus 2 for some time. Verdict is the Manticore is no joke. Compared to the Deus 2 the VDI is a lot more jumpy but it is pretty accurate. I was disappointed that I had to buy a Wire to use my favorite Headphones $51 and I do not like the 11" coil another $300 for the M9, but overall it performed very well. I dug some 10-11" pennies. I really like the charger and the 2D tracking seemed to work well. Verdict is per my opinion Deus 2 and Manticore are really close in performance. Manticore seemed a little easier to set up, but I was surprised that it really did not allow you to created and save personalized programs. These are so close in performance neither is a stand out.
Yea, I hunt with both of them and each has its own strengths. Both are great machines. Manticore has strong depth and a 2D screen that I really like. The D2 has very sweet audio and is solid on jewelry. Of course this is just my own opinion

The above observations are much like my own. I have had the D2 three years and the Manticore one now. My 44 yr old stepson hunts with the Manticore and we have been comparing signals before digging. Seems the D2 has a slight edge in determining iron, he’s inclined to dig the iron just see. I think they compliment each other if you own both. The 9” coil for both is my preferred tool. I will say for me the Manticore 9” is far better, less drag for water hunting vs thev11”. I have to finally try the D2 water antenna some time but think the setup is lacking wether I run it inside or outside the shaft it has a point of failure at the hokey coil attachment and the antennas do have a rep of corroding so I have been using the manticore in the water. If we are doing cellar holes I start with the D2 out of habit and the nuanced audio. The short learning curve goes to the Manticore. The couple of niggling things about the D2 like the mounting of the remote and lower shaft flex were easy fixes…locking clip and carbon fiber lower. All this said I have 9 other working detectors that are lonely….well the EQX 800 does see use in MX and wifey uses it on beach hunts.
