Max depth on dime

What would be the max depth on a dime you would be able to say without a doubt you would get a solid repeatable signal on a dime in a test garden situation? I am testing my detectors and friends in a recently dug test garden.

I have one buried at 8" and it is no problem to get a solid repeatable signal on the E-Trac with all my coils (6X8 SEF, 10X12 SEF, 11" Pro, 12X15 SEF). Unfortunately, I can't give you a good "max" answer since I only buried my deepest coins 8". I'm sure someone else on here that has deeper coins in their test garden will chime in.

8-9" in real 100+ year old lost conditions. They hit pretty hard too. I think 10" shouldn't be too much to ask and in very good ground/soil conditions 11+". I think they'd have to be laying flat or as close to it if possible. I can't say for sure, but the beach hunters are always claiming a lot more depth. I don't know, I've never hunted the beach.

I dug a 1959 silver rosie dime last year at a true 9" + - in solid ground - next to a tennis court that gave me a real solid - no bounce - FE 12 - CO 45 when crossed both ways.
I also dug a 1904 barber dime last winter that gave me a perfect target ID - this dime was under 3" of powder snow - a thin layer of ice - heavy leafs - and 7" down in black topsoil - pretty cool !

My E-Trac is in stock coins mode for the following test and will do a bit better with minimal disc. I have a 9" silver Rosie that hits solid and ID good at 11,12-45,46 with the stock pro coil.I also have a 10-1/2" Rosie that just will hit but IDs at 1,2-44,45,46.

The soil is very mild as the E-Trac will run at 24 in auto sensitivity. In auto plus 3 or 27 auto it will hit and ID the 9" dime but is silent on the 10-1/2" one.I have tried the sef 10x12,12x15 and Sunray x12 on these dimes and without a doubt the stock Pro coil hits the best with best ID followed by the x12 and the 10x12 sef with the 12x15 coming in last.

On targets quarter size and larger the 12x15 does better in my tests. If I run in wide open quick mask the sef 12x15 will hit better than any of the other coils with max sensitivity but I do not have many sites I could run that way and remain sane after a few minutes I am afraid.
