More neat finds at the old Acadian

Louisiana Ken

New member
A couple of nights of digging produced a few neat things. The 1st pic shows an 1861 IH (could barely make out the last 1). My 2nd fatty here and they are ate up. The pic also shows 2 ate up Buffalos (one looks to be a 1920) along w/ 4 wheats (42,50S,50D,51D). The 2nd pic shows my 2nd Battle of New Orleans era Navy flat button. The condition isn't as good as my 1st one but they're the same. The 3rd pic shows what looks to have been a very large pewter flat button or rosette. Has the leaf design and writing like a flat but not sure. the 4th pic shows an odd shaped brass piece. The 5th pic is a pin fire casing and then there's a few more bullets I've found. The nights were wet (very light rain) and desided to work the iron areas. Just walked slower over the areas I've already hunted but at a different angled path. Not shown are camp lead, brass casings, a small medicine bottle and several pieces of junkier junk.

Good Luck at Your Sites,

Kenny

The place is still givin' it up! How many hours would you estimate you've been working that spot Ken? Thanks for the pictures.

1st went there in 01 a couple of times with my Explorer XS (just learning how to use it) and pretty much cleaned out the clad and maybe a buffalo and a few wheats. Got my E-Trac and went back for a few hours and got a seated dime. Hooked to that place since then. I don't get out much but when I do I put in an average of about 4-5 hours there; been there at least 40 maybe 50 times. I'm guessing 160+ hours in 10 years.

Just curious, why are you hunting this place at night?

Real nice Kennny !

Very cool I also have a spot like that and have been hunting about over 7-8 years with various machines and techniques. I know what you mean when you say "hooked ever since" I have spent hours and hours out there and the finds are very few now but I will keep going back whenever I can as you have learned a little different temp, angle, water content, machine set up, what ever changes things and I just might find one more good keeper and that keeps me happy to the core.

Glad to see your out diggin your heart out.

good luck

I rarely hunt at night. Sometimes it's the only chance I've got to get out (job,wife,5 yr old, and 3 yr old). Also I've made my best finds at night, slows me down even more I guess.

looks like a nice collection ! congrats! :detecting:
