Mosquitoe shirts

For those of you that are not aware there are long sleeved shirts that have a repelent in the fabric that work very well. Buzz Off brand they also have caps and pants. I found them to work really well and you just have face and hands( rubber gloves) to worry about then.

Thanks for the tip.----How long does this repellent last that is in the material & where do you get the shirts?

Here in Southeast Missouri the mosquito's are like hummingbirds in some locations. A flame thrower works best. :hot:

BCOOP

The Ex officio Buzz off shirts can they claim be washed up to 70 times before all the repellant is gone. REI is one place that sells them also check with fly fishing stores. Ebay has some but make sure they are the bug repelling ones . LL Bean and Mad dog also are others who have shirts made of the material. Cabela's has Mad dog camo for 20 bucks.

Thanks goldsniper----I'll check with Cabelas first.-----Some of the places we hunt in MT & TX are so bad with them that they try to carry you off (after working you over but good). :smile-----Have tried a lot of things with some success, I'll check on these shirts.

take any net shirt, put in the plastic bag and impregnate with spary or lemon grass -or enything that works and you have repelent-repelenticus mosciticus neticus

An altogether interesting plant -- like most plants, if not all of them. Other plant oils mosquitoes don't like are citronella, jojoba, neem, witch hazel, tea tree oil, peppermint, lemon basil, lemon oregano, lemon geranium, catnip, eucalyptus and pennyroyal.
This I found after reading stasys comments on lemon grass.

No need for a mosquito repellent shirt. Get some permanone, they carry it almost everywhere, Wallyville too. Take the clothes you hunt in and spray them down and let em dry. You will not have a mosquito problem any more. Last through several washings, about 3 weeks and there is no residual odor at all. No bugs, tics, fleas or anything will get on you. It is made for clothes not skin. I've used it for 25 or so years. Best out there still!

Nope it's permanone, developed for the vietnam conflict. Still the best there is. I believe Repel sells permanone. Several companies sell it.

I used to think that warmer climates had more mosquitoes. like Florida etc (I grew up and live in GA). That all changed when I was a teen and we took a camping trip to Ontario. We spent some time in Bancroft and it wasn't a problem there but dad decided to take the "northern route" around the great lakes and down to Thunder Bay, Ontario on the other side. (We entered Canada from Detroit, through the tunnel to Windsor and that is another story. Everything in Detroit was brown and dirty lookiing... everything in Windsor was clean and green withwide sidewalks and flowers everywhere)... anyway when we got up in nothern Ontario we stopped to camp for the night I have never in my life seen so many mosquitoes, I was afraid I was going to breathe them in. There were so many mosquitoes it was like a cloud... I have never seen anything like it. I am glad it isn't like that here... one mosquito is bad enough, laff.

I used this when I went to Canada for a Bear Hunt and Fishing trip years ago. It's very lightweight and breathable for those hot days.

Here's a link with pics. for ya'
