Multible Signals... 2 Questions

When getting a high tone signal and you see several number combinations at once like...01-35, 07- 40, 12-46 just hopping around back and forth and all th CO numbers are in coin range. would it be safe to say it is a digger? and second question...as long as the many combinations, even if all except one 12-46 are out of the coin range does the one 12-46 you see among all the other non coin numbers mean that there is a 12-46 down there and it should be dug??

If the 12-46 comes in more consistently than the 01-35, 07-40 numbers and you've done a 90 degree check search,
then I would say there is a good chance for the 12-46 to be worthwhile to dig for. That's what I would do and I
have had those same situations happen to me and most of the time (80%) I will find a good target.

Had that happen A LOT yesterday at the old hotel. I stopped and did a noise cancel, didn't stop it but it seem to settle it down a little.

Try your Quick-Mask screen mine has very little discrimination and that with the cursor location really helps me decide what kind of target is down there. BUT we all know when in doubt DIG it out. Hopes this helps. HH :minelab:

I agree.......when in doubt DIG!! I have this happen alot. Sometimes it is a ring of iron and sometimes a coin. You just never know. If I get a high tone more often then a grunt I dig. Numbers are hard to tell by.

Check out this thread at look at the video about Iron Falsing and the E-Trac it can help a lot

If I get a signal like this, I turn 90 degrees if I still get the signal and not a null, I dig it, the numbers mean nothing to me!

Terry's right. If you happen to mean getting those jumping numbers when not moving the coil, then its almost always some large (just under the surface) target Herb.

I agree with most this....I also would try going to all metal and feeling out the target.....most of the time, I can get clues from what the signal sounds like and how it acts. When ever I get "good numbers", like 12-46 sporadically that pops up.....the detector is trying to tell you something. Likewise, when the detector number jump all over the place and never really settle down and NOT any good numbers...I would pass it by.

I'm a great fan for using the Quick Mask feature on the E-Trac in that situation.

Using a open screen and using a one to two inch swing one direction then at 90% angle if you do not get your target box to go to the lower right hand corner and lock there, or if it goes to the lower right hand corner and back up to the coin area it normally means you have more then one target in the ground. In that case I always dig and have found many good coins and tokens using this method.

As others have said when in doubt dig. Rick IL

I would definitely dig those numbers. My problem is the 1-35's I get jump down to 35-35 or better when I go to quick mask with an open screen and usually turns out to be a nail if I dig it. If I got 1-35 bouncing down to 12-46 as you describe I would happily dig it. At least I would know it would be anything other than an iron nail. :yo:
