My buddy with DFX is convinced now he needs an Etrac :clapping:

Goes4ever what coil were you using just interested what coil is every ones first choice coil. Most yards are trashy I see you just got 8X6 or did you go for coverage and depth and go with larger coil.

I was using the pro coil here, this yard was VERY clean

its funny that on some boards they get all bent out of shape when detector comparions are mentioned, but not here.

I think it's because we have all these brand/model specific areas which tends to separate user into little groups. For example all the E-Trac fans hangout in the E-Trac area and don't see many non-E-Trac fans. Personally, I'm not a brand fan and prefer to use what ever works best for me which tends to cause problems when I choose to post my honest opinion.

Where I get myself in trouble is I click the Recent Messages at the top and end up commenting to a message in a brand specific area. When I post my opinion, which may or may not praise the particular brand/model, I get reminded where I am. Some people don't want to hear any opposing opinions.

I'm glad we can all compare detectors with a bit of civility :)

Funny thing is over on the V3/V3i forum there is a moderator thread stating the following:

"This forum is for discussion the operation, usage, of the White's Spectra V3 / V3i. Please keep this in mind.
Multi- brand comparisons tend to get some users fired up over the results, topping it all off, filling the page with not so correct information. Talk about Whites Products, leaving out the Minelab, Tesoro's, Garrett's, etc. If you feel there is a need for comparison posting, take it over to our "Views", or "Feedback" forums."

Go figure............

The thread (post) you quoted came from ADMIN, not the Moderator. My job as Moderator is to support ADMIN in the way they want this business run with consideration to our sponsors who make Findmall Forums possible. We do not condone comparisons of brands, in fact we encourage them, but comparison threads do not belong on the brand and model specific forums that are here to help users understand their equipment. As Admin said, all comparisons are welcome on the Views and Feedback forums.

Thanks Larry....

That clears it up partly. Out of curiosity though, why would that be posted under a brand specific forum then, in this instance Whites, and not on the main page as a general reminder for all posters in their respective forums?
When I saw that it sure gave the impression that folks on the Whites forum don't know how to behave themselves.

It was posted on the V3 forum because that is the forum we have the most problems with and your idea of posting general rules and guidelines is a good one. The classifieds were brought under control with rules of use, and I agree that we also need general use guidelines as well. Misbehaving on the boards seems to be pretty consistent across all forums and by far, most users are here to learn and to share their knowledge and finds with others.

These posts are off topic and I consider this matter closed, I just wanted to correct your quote, answer your question and take your suggestion under consideration with ADMIN.

Case closed it is Larry. Thank you for the explanation.

Well for tools I personally like the Lesche digger. It's a high quality digger that can cut through just about anything and doesn't attract attention like a small shovel will.

you would get better replies if you started your own new topic than to jump in here changing the topic on this one

I never used a DFX but I used an Ace 250 which is a nice detector to start with, I started metal detecting July of 2009 and used the Ace until mid June of 2010 I did ok with it in 10 1/2 months I found two gold rings, 1 silver dime, some silver jewelery chain rings etc and 15 wheat pennies. Since using the e-trac and hunting typically the same parks and similar old houses I have found a silver half, three silver dimes, large cent, two cent piece and 81 wheat pennies along with some interesting artifacts, in just a little over two months. Terry can attest that I am a novice yet with the e-trac and I am sure I have missed good things because of that reason of not understanding everything my machine is telling me. Yes a experienced detector with an average machine will find more than a novice with a top class machine..but it is fun finding the stuff I only imagined finding all the while I am learning. I would never knock anyones choice of machines but I can say I am happy with my choice. I have had the similar experience that Terry has two of my hunting partners went with the e-trac....I can imagine them thinking if that guy can find stuff I know I can do even better:rofl:
