Hello everyone!!! It's been awhile since I've posted or have checked things out over here. Been busy doing some things on a token website and work has been getting busier and busier this spring. I hope everyone is getting out and making them great finds that we all like to find and hope that this year is a good one for you all. GOOD LUCK AND HH TO YOU ALL THIS YEAR!!! Now lets get to the small story and the finds.
Well, this year it started out a bit slower but that was alright. Me and Dale decided to go try out some areas he had seen when he had been doing Dent Removal last year. The sites consisted of Parks for the most part and were a bit tought to get any major finds out of. I did manage to pop out a Silver Canadian Quarter though which was a surprise since it was just under the grass where it wasn't visible. I thought for sure it was a Clad Quarter and decided to retrieve it and I was glad I did. I told Dale about it and he just shook his head. We also found some Wheats and other Silver as well but not much as far as quantity goes.
We then hit another small park in a small town and it produced about 10-15 Wheats, a Barber Dime, a few Merc's/Rosie's, 2 Indian Heads and the normal Clad. By the end of the day, Dale and I only had a couple pieces of Silver and a few other finds so it was by far one of the toughest hunts for the year at that point. I also found a Token and a few more things at other spots we tried.
The next weekend Tim, Dale and I decided to go visit some of the Parks we hit last year that we did very well at. We located another Park in the town we were in and all the houses around it were in the early 1900's so I knew there was going to be Barber or Indian Heads here. We started out detecting and I was the first one to find anything. It was about 10 minutes or so into the hunt and I got a nice Deep Injun Hit. I dug a plug and dug down about 8" and there it was. A 1905 Indian Head. Shortly after this I retrieved a 1911 Wheatie. I then asked Tim who was only about 20 feet away if he had found anything yet. Nope! I told him I just recovered the Indian Head and a Wheatie. We then started to work a little more carefully. On one end of this park, Dale was detecting and thought I would make my way over there to check and see if he was finding anything as well. As I got closer to him, the Coins started to come out in more numbers. Dale was starting to work an area pretty heavy and if you know Dale....that must mean he either found Silver or some Injuns. I asked what he had found over in the area he was now hunting and he told me he found a couple Wheats and a Barber Dime. We started working this end of the Park and it sure is funny how many more coins one can find if they just take their time and work a Pattern. Wheats were in good number over here and a few Silver as well. Dale got done working this area and I decided to just keep working right through were he had just been. I think Dale wasn't working as tight of a pattern as I was and I got rewarded for it. I got a good 28 on Digital on my Explorer XS that showed about 6"-8" Deep and dug a plug. Dug some dirt out and out comes a Barber Dime. Alright!!! Went in with the X-1 Probe and another signal. Another Barber Dime! Awesome!!! Went back into the hole and nothing. I then checked the dirt and another target. Merc! Yahoo!!!! I then checked it again and nothing. I rescanned the hole with the detector and there still was something there. I dug a little more dirt out and another coin surfaced. I don't know if this was in the side of the hole but it sure didn't make sense to me why it was in the same hole as the Dimes were. It turned out to be a 1975 Lincoln Cent so I'm thinking that it had to be in the side and shallower. I then covered up the hole and moved on. I also found a Silver Ring, 2 Toy Cars, a Button, a Plastic Tee, and a few more Wheats and a couple more Silver. Tim was doing good as well and had found a Barber Dime, some Merc's, Rosie's, Wheats, Injuns, and a V and Buffalo Nickel on the opposite end of the Park. There's still stuff there at that Park since it was a City Block in size so maybe sometime I will have to stop back and see what else is still waiting to be found. We then decided to head over to another Park where we got a bunch of Barber and Indians from the year before.
We arrived and got the gear out. Tim walked over to where he was finding Coins last year and wouldn't you know it....within the first 10 minutes of being there he pulls out 3 Indian Heads and 3 Wheats in about a 4' area by a tree. I walked over to an area and wasn't finding much but finally come across a 1918 Wheatie. After about 15 minutes or so I decided to go try over where Tim was and as I crossed the sidewalk, I got a good signal about 6' away from the sidewalk. Thinking Indian Head, I dug down and was surprised with a 1905 Canadian Fishscale (5
