New Coil and Pin pointer?????

Jim Robertson

Well-known member
Any word on when the coil and pin pointer will be available and what the prices will be????

I contacted the US distributor about a week ago looking for pre-order information and they had no idea as to either availability or prices.
I am guessing coil will run 4 to 500 and the pinpointer 250 to 300 US. Maybe the strength of the US dollar/Euro will drop those prices a bit.

count me out if the pinpointers are that high priced, i could get a new detector for that, lol I read they would be competitively priced with whats on the market today so I am guessing closer to the $150 range

Both the coil and the probe are not going to be in the same price league as a regular 'wired' coil, the reason is they have the battery and transmitter built in,so that they can all talk on the same Deus operating system, the probe is no way going to be as cheap as a normal Garrett carrot.

All will be revealed this coming weekend anyway

But tell me truth what better is in wireless probe than Garrett Carrot pin pointer? Double price for what? For wireless option? Please mercy...

I assume it will have discrimination, sort of like the Sun Ray X-1, but wireless?

I would say the biggest advantage is you are capable of hearing the target through your headphones,of course one could use the Garrett in vibrating mode and or slip the headphones too one side so that you can hear the actual pinpointer, those are in my opinion the main advantage also you would have the fully discrimination advantage as well.

When i use my SunRay inline 'wired' probe on my DFX,those are the advantages that i gain from that setup,of course we all use detecting equipment differently and it would seem a logic move for XP too expand the Deus wireless platform even more,no other detector brand has this potential flexibility of what the Deus has,of course this is just my oppinion on what could be happening and how one could use the new product items.

If one is happy with the current items that you use then that is all that matters,i will agree its more of a luxury item than a essential item, the price will be the deal breaker on how popular the probe will be.

A discriminating probe like the S-1 probe I used to use on my GT will save a lot of time. You don't dig all the nails, etc. HH-Mark

If the new PP is capable of supporting Full Tones - what a difference that would make for me. I have a place where there are Indians and nails mixed together at the 9-10" level. At that depth my coil can't tell the difference b/t the two, so the prospect of a wireless, Full Tone, non-motion PP that would discriminate is almost priceless. Don't know how many Indians I've gouged thinking it's a nail, etc

So-----this new pin pointer (when paired to the version 4 Deus) is going to have tone I.D.---and---discrimination (through the h.p.'s)?-----Similar to the Sunray in-lines but wireless?

Of course no one has the full facts regarding the new pinpointer, but logic tells me why would you produce another 'run of the mill' type probes when you all ready have world beating and reliable wireless technology,it would make sound business sense to pair the new pinpointer to the new version 4 sortware.

It could well be the game changer that would be a massive leap forward for pinpointers, the conventional probe that we all use has not changes for years, its a big part of our detecting equipment and a vital tool in recovering our finds, and by combining the small coil design that is used in a probe and hooking it upto the wireless transmission side of the Deus then one can see the game changing possibilities,we dont have all the fact but 'would' it does all make sense.

I use the SunRay inline wired system on my DFX,that is my all time favourite pinpointer as you can hear everything through your headphones, add the possibility of wireless transmission, you then have a game changer in place exactly the same way as what the Deus has done with doing away with the normal old school wired system that we have all been using for decades.

Seem logic too me,could well be wrong, but we will all find out this coming weekend.

I don't need any discrimination for my pinpointer... how often you will find rusty nail with coin in your hole, and you can easy check it by detector or ordinary pinpointer. This not any advantage for me. Period. I can use my Garrett with Deus hedphones, unit still vibrating and I can hear too. So double price is not the way. This is additional tool - accessory only.

If all you hunt is Tot Lots than no problem with nails.
Where I hunt the term bed of nails doesn't even come close.
I will have 5 - 10 small nails in a 5"x5" hole.
I ran a magnet over a 4' x 4' spot 6" deep and filled a gal. bucket with nails and small iron.
Without the speed of the Deus I couldn't detect the area.
I'm hoping that the new coil will open up a bit more targets.
The pinpointer with Disc will help a lot on those small buttons and relics in with the nails.
I will be waiting for some feed back before I purchase though.

im with you hunting dog. just today i had a target in a 10 inch hole. with the Garrett carrot , it screamed in the bottom of the hole. so i detuned it and then i could pinpoint better, only to fond two targets at 10 inches, one on one side of the hole and one on the other. so i have to get one that was a coin and it was a IH. now is the other target worth trying to dig out or not. ? with a probe that can discriminate i would know if its worth it. as it turned out it was a nail. lm hoping for a "smart" probe.

A new pin pointer with disc would be killer. I was running full tones amd heard this high tone but it was iffy. A pin pointer with disc would have saved time.

Gee , real information!!
Still will be "months" for actual hardware and it looks like the TWO coils will come with the lower shaft,,,add a hundred bucks for that.
You Sunray pinpointer cultsists are going to be disappointed I think. Looks like only two types of sound although you can change the tone , maybe you can knock out iron but I doubt it. XP may have shot themselves in the foot by not carrying full tones to the pinpointer.
V-4 sounds bland , I was hoping it had a method of distinguishing gold from modern trash as intimated by certain people when the update was first announced but just some sensitivity , reactivity and tracking changes.
