New E-Trac coming

I wasn't planning on getting one till next year being that Winter is almost here in Germany but I found a great deal (like 33% of regular internet price) on Ebay.co.uk. Just a month old, ok, it's not technically new but the warranty card wasn't sent in yet so...

Might have another good month of hunting time in the way the weather has been. I'm a coin hunter and am excited to learn this unit. I think when it arrives I'll swipe 100 or so coins by the unit to see where they fall, so perhaps I can set up a discrim pattern to compare against the quick mask screen on targets found.

Any of you guys have suggestions, I'm all ears. But note my location, so I'd have to run some variations of your programs. I think TTF will be what I play with first. The ground is pretty loaded with iron here. I'll start off hunting a field that has produced in the past, then I know of a park with clad that I left last time I was there as I was after older coins. Might be a good place to get a feel for the unit. Coming from a background of a Nautilus, T2, Omega and V3i I realize it's going to take time to learn the sounds. After all the reading over the months on the E-Trac (I also have Andy's book) I feel ok to go out and play with it BUT even after all the videos I've watch, learning the sounds is really really foreign compared to any unit I've had.

Thanks guys,
Albert

I think you are really going to like it. Do some of the coins over there have iron in them or are they different alloys? The good thing about the Etrac is you can build patterns to match the type of coins you are looking for. Be sure to make some videos for us too.....;o)

Hey Bill, I thought I might see you here. Some of the older coins might have iron. The newer 1 and 5 cents are iron, and they get discirminated out with my current machines. Perhaps I need to find a European pattern for those coins. Thanks for that, it had never crossed my mind as I don't dig any iron but now with the E-Trac having more advanced ID capabilities I can open a small window for them.

Videos are a definite. I hope my video mount fits though!

You may have to modify your video mount. I think I am going to get the same setup you have for filming. But you are right the clamp may have to be modified a bit to open bigger.
