New Safari owner/ should I buy the Sabisch Quattro book?

Hi everyone,
I have been out of detecting for several years and decided to get back into it. I decided to try the Safari, but havent had alot of time since i bought it late last year and the weather is not too good. I found a few coins with it before i stored it, but the manual isn't too good and i want more info an the machine. Is the "mastering the Quattro" book a good resource for the Safari? If you own the book could you give me a basic idea of whats included and how it will relate to the Safari? Any info would be appreciated. So far i really like the Safari, but i've only got a few hours hunt time with it, and its a different beast than im used to. I've hunted Whites 5900 di pro, Garret master hunter cxiii, and Whites eagle spectrum was my last one and i havent been out for 7 or 8 years so i'm a little rusty too. LOng story short will the book help with learning the Safari even though its about the Quattro? Thanks for reading.

In a word, yes. I won't try to detail it to you, but if you don't find it useful, I'll buy it from you. Nothing to lose, so much to gain! Get the book...
 
help on understanding all the bells and whistles, how to set it up for various hunting conds etc.........It was well written and easier to understand than the manual... BTW I just got a safari today and his quatro book was included in with the detector.. I'll go thru it tomorrow..

Thanks for the reply cd. I'm leaning toward buying the book to start with. My understanding is that the there are only a few differences between the Quattro and the Safari. I just wanted to make sure the differences aren't so great as to make the book difficult to use in reguards to the Safari. A couple examples I'm talking about would be "are the controls the same on the Safari and Quattro, and are the sounds he might describe in the book the same between machines, as well as the display info on the target id of both machines?" I will end up buying the book, but if anyone can lay some of my questions on specifics to rest I would like to hear from you as well.

Joe,
The controls on the Safari are the same as they are on the Quattro and they both operate
the same way.The processor is faster on the Safari than it is on the Quattro_Other than
those and the color they work the same. Gary

A must have for safari owners, it has helped me out . Also just asking questions on this forum is a huge help/benefit. Andy's cross saving program is pretty good if you want to hear different tones. Glad you got a Safari, I really like mine alot. Ron :detecting:
 
That book will give you all the information you need. I've refered back to mine several times. Just take the time to learn the sounds and you will be amazed at what that Safari can do. HH:minelab:

for the explorer, this is well done also... Got a few ideas on how to set it up... One that really sticks out and I think I'm really going to use it is the cross savings he speaks about on pages 50-51... I like using the ferrous tones VS the cond tones when I had the explorer, so it looks I could do the same with the safari.................. ANy body else use this method???? Hope to hunt soon if the weather cooperates... Even if I could walk around some of my good places just to hear how the machine reacts..

I use relic mode and cross save to coin&jewelry for the ferrous sounds. Seems the sounds are just crisper. My 2 cents. HH:minelab:
 
Re: New Safari owner/ should I buy the Sabisch Quattro book? I just got my new Safari about a week ago and immediately ordered the Book. I am working my way through it. I have tried my Safari out and was very impressed with the results. I live in Idaho at 5000' snowy feet-great for snowboarding, but lousy for metal detecting! However, I am only a short distance from Riggins on the Salmon river, so I went there and hunted a beach. Right away I found coins (and fishing sinkers!) It is a great machine. One caution: filter out 40. I got a great hit on it and dug up a still full beer can!!! Can't wait to take it to some of my favorite places and see what I missed with my Cortes!

Thanks alot to all that responded to my question. I bought the book and have read it twice. My take on the quality of the book is the same as all the guys who responded to me on here. It's great and I learned more in the first few pages than I found in the whole manual. I'm not new to detecting, but this machine is alot different than what I was used to since I last swung my old Whites machine 8 or 9 years ago. I didn't have any problems with the machine when i got it last fall after researching a bit and really paying attention to the sounds this machine makes. I rarely dug trash, but I probably missed a few good finds because, well, I consider myself a novice with this machine and far from expert with my others over the years. I really like this machine though and will learn it. This book will help speed along the learning curve for sure. Now if this Missouri weather ever cooperates I plan to start diggin'. Again thanks to everyone on here as you all seem like a top-notch bunch of guys and gals. I hope to tap some more knowledge from you all in the future as I learn the Safari.

Yes - get the book - goes way beyond the factory manual !
 
No. Dont buy the book or dare to read it. It will just make you more effective at useing your Safari and you wouldn't want that...

Off course if you want to be effective at useing the machine and all of it abilties then be my guest and buy the book and read it a few times. On the other hand if you don't you'll tire of the hobby and go away dissapointed and unhappy and forever wonder what all those people on Finds Forum where so enthused about...

Hi iv had my safari for a year now and found all sorts of stuff,but hav'nt managed to get hold of Andy's book,I'm from the UK and are detector shops tell me its not being publish any more... Dos anyone out there have a copy,ill willingly pay the postage.
