New site,first silver

Great Republic

Active member
A friend of mine just bought a property with a couple of small houses and barns.I have spent about an hour and a half total so far and having a ball.
The merc is 1919D and my first siver this year and the first one with the new SE.
The two coins below the merc are worn but still have the dates. They are left 1917 buffalo nickel and on the right 1890 liberty nickel.
The pennies lined up below that are:
1910
1916
1918
1920
1937
1940
1944
1951
1956D
The rest is clad and misc. stuff.
I've only started searching this site so I'll keep posting as I go. Thanks for looking and hope you all have a great season.

Good area to learn the tones of a variety of targets. Congrats on the silver and the V.

Thanks to you Bob I've converted to AM/Ferrous. I don't think that I would have found some of these coins without using this setting. On a couple of them the tones were iffy and the cursor would not leave the upper left corner of the screen. With my old settings the discrim would have blanked them out.

That is so true, But if you are ever using any kind of discrim and using smart screen, keep IM in all metal, and just check it with IM all metal....its only 2 clicks away on screen and 1 to get back to smart screen. Sometimes I run with discrim. just to get thru a place with out digging too much junk....but when I make a pattern it is right there in the field when a certain item keeps coming up in the hole....but I use a tight pattern and don't over do it, using the learn with small curser. If it needs to be edited, I do that. I never use the iron mask settings cause it blocks too much out....I only use it in wide open IM to check iffy signals that maybe sounding good close to my rejected pattern. If you have a sunray probe, use that to learn a certain object to reject it, it will give you a cleaner response and not multiple spots on screen for one object. Hey after digging the same pull tab over and over......I got to get rid of it.....I never reject from the select screen....I customize it by using learn and edit. It is a more precise way of doing it, taylored to the site you are hunting, not the factory version of a pulltab, etc....

Ya, that Merry Widows tin cover was behind the one of the houses. I'm going back to look for the base. Ruby Lane has the complete tin for 45 dollars.

That spot will definitely give up more Old Coins and Relics. Work it hard and in a pattern to get maximum results. Looking forward to your next finds. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:
