no gold on the beach today but the 12x15 found silver

well i loaded up the prego wife and the 4 kids. i have 5 but my oldest hangs with gramma and gramp all the time.
drove 90 miles to crystal beach here in Texas and started hunting. after about 45 minutes of not finding anything at all i got that high fluty tone from about 9 inches down. i knew it was silver from the tone. so i scooped up the ring and stuck it in my pocket then headed on hunting. Well i found some change after that and then a few minutes before i left ( had to cut it short cause my 7 year old girl started running 103 fever) i hit the mother load of hot wheels.

Nice ring! Hope your Daughter is ok.

HH, Mark :minelab:

BTW: Spent hours hunting today on the SEF 12x15, rural area, very few signals, got 4 wheatbacks, but what a sweet coil this is turning out to be. I bought it for the beaches, can't wait to try it there too.

Nice hunting. Hope you're daughter feels better soon.

Nice ring !
I have a box of Hot Wheels in the basement too - they seem to come in around the (12) - (46) range on my ET - dug approx 12 to 15 of them so far.

Sounds like everyone out there in this post and others I've read are real happy with their 12 x 15 coils.
I've been thinking about getting one in the future so I could cover more area on the fresh water beaches and larger open areas.

Need to ask you guy's one thing .... Hows the added weight factor over the stock Pro-Coil - not that bad ?

Thanks ! --- Mark

well it works great on the beach. i ran manual sens 24. any higher i would start getting false sigs. auto + 3 would run about 21. It didnt mind wet sand or dry but it did give a false signal when it went from air to water so when a wave came in and hit the coil i would get a signal that would read down in the foil tab range.

i found the coil has more drag in the water than the pro coil. it also feels like it wants to float but it doesn't. its basically just like hunting with it on land with just a few ounces taken off and drag added to your swing if that makes any sense.

But its still heavy compared to the stock pro coil

Thanks for the reply on the 12 x 15 SEF coil weight.

One other question I just thought of ...

I carry my machine in the woods a lot - in the factory Minelab bag.
With 12 x 15 coil mounted on the E-Trac - will it fit it still fit in the factory carry bag ?

Thanks --- Mark
