Nothing much but figured I'd still post.

Didn't get out last weekend so I am for sure getting out this weekend and hoping to make up for the lost time. Hoping to get at least 10 Silver this weekend but we can only take what we swing our Coils over. I tried an Old Yard which was really loaded with Iron Debris. Had the Stock Coil on which I knew was a bit too much for that kind of environment so I will have to go back with the Joey Coil and see if I can't get between all the Iron. Only things found on Wednesday Night was some New Coins, 1 Wheat dated 1944-d, a Key, and a Gold Plated Ring. When I seen the Ring, I knew right away that it was Plated since it read 28 on Digital. Too high of a reading. When I picked it up, that is when I wished it would have been Real since it is a Large Band and it would have been worth over $100 in Scrap Value if it was Gold. Maybe next time! Should be more Old Coins there somewhere since the House goes back to the Late 1890's! Friday Night, Dale wanted to get out and try his New Minelab X-terra 70 at Island Park in Fargo, so I met up with him around 6:30pm. This Park still holds Old Coins but it seems like it can take up to a full days hunt just to find 1 Good Coin. Half-way thru the hunt, I called Dale over to check what I thought was a Nickel Signal about 6" Deep or so. He went over it and his X-terra 70 was bouncing around all over the place. If he got over it, it would display a -8. This should have came up a 12 so I told him maybe he had something set up wrong. This weekend, we will see if his X-terra can do any better at sites we know Old Coins are at in more abundance. Anyways, I dug down about 6" or so and seen a Nickel. I was thinking it was going to be a Pull Tab Tail or some other kind of Junk but it was a Nickel. Picked it up and seen it was a V-Nickel dated 1884. This was found on what Rick(ND) calls "Nickel Hill", since there use to be a lot of Nickels found on this part of the Park. I also found the Top of a Pocket Watch (not shown) and an Old Pin. No Silver this time but this weekend has to net me a few. We will see. Until then, Good Luck and HH.[attachment 87548 DirtyCoins.jpg][attachment 87552 CleanedCoins.jpg][attachment 87549 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 87553 CleanedMisc..jpg]

James,

I'm sure you know but that 1884 just misses the two key dates of the series, but even in G-4, that is a $21.00 coin- great find nonetheless.

Willing to bet you get your 10+ silvers this weekend and can't wait for the pics- I have to work all weekend so I can't get out, but....

Good luck this weekend and continued success!

Glad to see you out.I know that you will make up for those slow days because you do your homework !!!!! Have a good one and good luck on your next hunt.

I went through my penny jar the other day and found two 1944 wheats it looked like I had a D over S so I went and baught a 20X jewelers magnifier and it was just a smashed s, but smashed just right it looked like the one in redbook with the bare eye. It is so fun reading this forum and I have learned so much. I just got my Bullseye two and gator digger today from Kellyco, paid the three day shipping and it took a month plus to get them, cant figure that one out. I cant wait to use them both and now the wife can have her little shovel back:surrender:

I just took it under the Faucet and ran water over the Coin and dampened the Brass Brush. Then I scrubbed it. The Nickel was red, especially on the back. I scrubbed the Nickel 2 times since it was leaving that Dull Grey look and it wasn't getting much better. So I cracked out a Can of Brasso and polished it to try and get it to come back to a Silver-ish Shine. It worked enough to were it didn't have that Dull Grey look so I was happy. Thanks for the reply Digitrich. Good Luck and HH.

I look at every 44-d Wheat I find in hopes of 1 being that ellusive D over S Variety, but haven't found one yet to my knowledge. Now get out there and use then New Toys and find some Treasure Edgewood! Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Just haven't been able to venture out like I want to, but that should change very shortly. Good Luck and HH.

But look at it from this point, at least you got out and enjoyed the day outdoors and a bit of a work out doing all that walking. Better Luck next time! Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

We will soon see on how many Silver I got for this weekend. I knew about the Nickel, and wished it would have been an 85 or 86, but it really didn't matter since I knew that an 84 was also a decent date Nickel too. Good Luck and HH when you are able to get out and do some swingin'.:detecting:

Sure would have been great if it was real though. Maybe next time. Hope your getting out and finding some nice finds Bryce. Good Luck and HH.
