November in review... best month of the year!

Just as the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, I start having the best month of the year! Lots of firsts for me, and these are firsts in 20 years of detecting! Seated coin (dime), fatty Indian (1862), a Chinese cash coin, and a three ringer minie ball.

And on top of that, four large coppers, a two cent piece, 21 Indian heads, three shield nickels, two V nickels, five buffalo nickels - all with dates, 18 silver dimes, 1899 Barber quarter, four old trade tokens, some silver rings, a Canadian large cent.

And one December find snuck into the pictures, and that's the small silver cross.

I'm a park hunter, and I'm still astounded all these things came out of the heavily hunted parks I have been searching for years. And to have found them all within the span of a month is just unreal.

Great finds there Nick, looking forward to your next finds!

So does this mean you won't hunt again until next Novemeber, Nick???

Congratulations on the finds and your "FIRSTS". I appreciate you showing us the pictures, offering your advice and contributing to the information on this forum! Take care this winter.

Wow, that is an excellent month! Gonna make it hard to sleep this winter when the ground is frozen and covered with snow  Just thinking about what still lies in the ground, waiting to be dug up in the spring. Sweet Dreams

did you get all the coins in the stock coin program on the e-trac, or do you have your screen opened up more then the stock coin program. very nice lot of coins good hunting

That's a lot of nice finds for one month - great job Nick !

I generally leave coins as they are. I was a coin collector before I was a detectorist, so I know the damage overcleaning can do.

And I am just up the road from you in Columbus, Ohio. You're lucky if you're close to Cincinnati... there are some fantastic parks there.

Great stuff Nick, love the variety of finds. Nick is often asked about his "secret" it is simple

1. Knowledge of his machine
2. Reading of his sites
3. Persistance
4. Not afraid to dig some junk

Stock coin program, stock Pro coil, auto sensitivity. The Minelab engineers designed this machine right.

Great month! Beats my year all to heck...
Stock coin program is great but... please tell me you opened up for silver dollars?

Actually I did make that change when I first got the machine, and then at one point changing something I reset it to stock. I knew I had reset it, but just never bothered to mess with it to change it back. So, I did not actually make that edit again until recently, after I was messing with the settings to take the step-by-step photos for Terry's (Goes4ever) TTF article in Ohio Metal Detecting magazine. Even then, I don't worry about it. There aren't that many silver dollars out there, having it open just gives me more trash signals to contend with and I've got plenty of other coins to dig.

great finds nick...and thanks for all your advice this season...it certainly paid off for me...i usually switch between your coin set up and goes4ever's...i do fileds so i definatley need my sivler opened up...i'm going to keep digging until the ground freezes here....then drive down the coast....i cant go the whole winter without metal detecting...lol...but it does give me some time forsome morre research....thanks again...ginger
